Brain dead would be one thing, eg like Harbhajan. This guy appears to be a jerk, always wanting to instigate trouble.

Real pity IPL Hyderabad, and the other teams, bid for his services. We (ie referring to Indian fans, dont want to get into a pissing contest) would be better off without him.

hehe.. no suprise about Ishant getting a fine. I was expecting that tbh while Symmonds gets no talkign from refree or anything.. no wonder we see him do these stupid things every match because when you have free licence to do it than why wouldn't you.

As for Ponting's gestures.. i thought that was quite sporting of him to not take that single as well.

Kumar, Tendulkar, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni, Uthappa, Pathan, Bhajji, Chawla, Ishant

How about that? Gambhir's looking good at 3 and Uthappa seems most effective in the lower order so having one of them open may not be the best idea. Kumar has opened for UP and India A before, a gamble worth taking IMO. On the flip side, Rohit Sharma should stay in the side so we could promote Gambhir and opt for a four-man attack with the hope that Tendulkar, Sharma, Yuvraj and Raina can fill in ten overs. They may have the ability but I'm not sure if Dhoni has enough confidence in them.

Kumar as a opener will only be succesful if there is a flat pitch so he can attack the bowlers.
I would probably let uthappa open which is his more natural position.

Symonds seems to be the icc's favourite Baby.

Whatever it takes!!!
I know Ravi said that, but seriously, the umpires went straight to Sharma when it happened. There wasn't even a delayed reaction on their part. They went there so quickly that, if Ponting was communicating with them to intervene, he must have done it telepathically.

Ponting and Harby (of all people) were apparently having a chat at the bowlers end (amicably) while the umps talked to Ishant.

Maybe he got fined and Symonds didn't because it was him who initiated it. For his part, no matter who started it, Symonds needs to learn to just walk off ffs.

I dunno, just because a commentator says it was so, doesn't make it so. Problem now is that after what happened in the test, every little incident like this becomes a big deal. If there hadn't been the previous incident, no doubt this wouldn't even be an issue atm.
yeah, taking Ravi's word is not the best option, but apparently many in the ground were saying the same thing. Anyways, not best to speculate, I guess...

And yeah, it was Symonds who initiated it. They showed a blow by blow replay with two frames with the camera on Symonds on one side and Ishant on the other and it was obvious that Symonds was the first to mouth off. Can't believe Channel 9 didn't show that, but then again, we all know how they are.... Anyways, perhaps as I said, in the referee's opinion, whatever Symonds said was not as bad as what Ishant said, although I don't see how pointing a dismissed batsman to the pavilion is such a bad thing. As far as I know, it is not personally abusive or anything and is not really more than any cricketing sledge...... But the Indians have taken a pragmatic view, I guess.. They have said that they won't ask for action even though Symonds was the one who initiated it... Guess they are getting sick and tired of all these as well. :)

In the end it was a pretty minor incident and I can't believe it's carried on this far. No one should've been fined, I've seen players get away with far, far worse.

Yeah channel 9 did show the replay but probaly not as many times as they showed up close up of Dhoni's gloves.

lol and Healy had some wise words to add to it as well.
Don't need the arrogant celebration from bowler...

No no, 'brain dead' infers he can't control himself. It's rather more deliberate than that.

Last time I head nincompoop, I was watching British humour I'm sure!

Sehwag's in the team ahead of other batsmen not only to bowl his offies, but also to add some much needed experience to the top order. He's done the typical Sehwag thing of looking pretty good at the top of the ODI order and then getting out, but given the absolutely paper-thin nature of the batting lineup, filling it with even more youngsters probably isn't the move, nor is dropping the youngsters selected originally after so few games.

To put it bluntly, teams selecting less than their best team deliberately really pisses me off. I tried really hard to close my eyes and buy into the fact that Ganguly and Dravid were dropped because their replacements were deemed to add more to the team as a whole with their fielding, and not because of their age, but when Munaf Patel makes the team, all consistency is lost. Once you start rotating the farcically selected team as well, that's just a bit much, isn't it? If we're going to be real here, Tiwary and Raina shouldn't even really be in the squad at all, so I'm sure they'll gladly take their opportunities to be part of the team setup, do a bit of fielding and be ready waiting to get a farcical ODI cap if someone goes down or looks completely out of sorts.

For all the talk of Twenty20 being a massive threat to ODIs, I think they are their own biggest enemy. There are far too many of them and the ongoing belief that none of them matter except the World Cup has been passed on from selectors' actions to fans' realisations themselves. The games should be used as more than giving player X an opportunity or blooding player Y and the fact that they really aren't is going to hurt what is actually a semi-decent format.

Oh, and I apologise for being slightly aggressive/sarcastic in my post yesterday; I was in a really ****ty mood and all my posts ended up a bit like that, whether I intended them to be or not.
I've seen this going around the forum a bit now and I think it needs to be pointed out that Munaf wasn't the original choice..RP Singh was. Since he was injured, Munaf was brought in as he was the next best bowler (AA was injured, in case you are wondering :P)

Haha! Actually I have been perusing some Tintin comics recently. Hence the phrase from you know whom... :D

But yes, always been a fan of British humour (though not all genres).

Can't wait till this starts. Been up all night studying, so was hoping this would be a day/night game so I could get some sleep but it starts in 15 minutes so I'm going to fight through it and watch this.

Have a feeling that Sachin will ton up today.
