Whatever it takes!!!
I only rate Sydney as slightly in Australia's favour because of how poorly India batted in their second dig. Aside from that it was pretty tight. Honestly, not being able to save a Test with 7 wickets in hand and losing 3 in the last over to a part-timer? Australia did exactly that in second Test 2001 and were rightly pillored.
yeah, but again, the umpiring was atrocious... I remember Gilchrist got a shocker in 2001 too but honestly, in that test, the umpiring was bad for both sides... Here India were simply robbed..... So, for me, that test will always be even and that's it... I understand that losing 3 wickets to a part timer is bad but I am sure the things that went on earlier in the test did play a part in all that happened later on...

They ended up losing by 122 runs. Even with poor umpiring, you'd be hard-pressed to convince me they were truly robbed, especially since there was still plenty of the game to go when the bulk of the poor decisions occurred. Robbed, to me, is when the match is on the line and at a crucial moment, a poor decision or two happens. Not on day 1. They had plenty of opportunities to fix things after that and their collapse in their second dig just tips the match in the favour of the Aussies.

EDIT: On the 2001 example, again, most of the bad decisions were against Australia in their first dig. They should have been able to bat out the day in their second dig but didn't so India were deservedly given credit for 'winning' the Test, not just being the winners due to poor umpiring.

Anyway, I reckon Gillespie's not-out caught behind when he was batting was far worse than the shockers against the Aussies because it cost India a good 100 runs.

if dravid was not given out and ganguly's catch had been reffered to third umpire we would have most likely saved that test....and both of them happened in the second inngs.

I'm no fan of Clarke but I reckon he took that catch. There's a 'bobble' effect with low catches where hands make contact with the ground which people, I think, misinterpret for the ball being grounded. This is from my personal experience taking low catches in gully (where more seem to bloody happen too) as well as watching the game. His catch against Hopkins in the NZ ODI last year in Adelaide was more egregious than that one.

The Dravid decision was, given, a shocker though. Still reckon, if the Test was scored out of 100, it was Aus 51, Ind 49. Mind you that's just me; either way, there's no way either side dominated the other like Laxman said which is more what I'm getting at.

It's official. Ponting has been owned this summer.

Spot in the ODI side in jeopardy?

Waiting for SST and Perm to take me seriously on this one.

Voges to play next match. Starting to feel sorry for guy. They wont realise him to play for WA, but they wont give him game time either.

He actually looked quite good against Sri-Lanka in the test series, and then dominated NZ in the Chappell Hadlee. I don't think he's been owned as such, but he is having an average summer by his very high standards. Don't forget, he still has say 4 ODI matches left at the very least, and I'd be surprised if he didn't at least get 1 score of 50+ in those 4 matches. Average/Mediocre summer yes, owned, nah.

Nah, he's been owned. A player who averages 59 over their career to average below 30 in a test series and 1 double figure score that was below 30 in 4 ODI matches is being owned. He may yet score 4 hundreds in the remaining matches, but at this stage of the summer he's been owned.

Voges is injured.

He strained his hamstring at a WA training session, after being released from the Australian squad.

He actually averaged 38 in the Border-Gavasker Trophy, and 45.33 in 6 test matches this Australia Summer. He has also averaged 71 in 6 ODI innings (2 unbeaten) so far, with 4 to go. As I said, it's been a mediocre summer for him so far, but he hasn't been owned.
