**Official Comm Bank Series - Aus, Ind & SL ODI's***

It's pretty worrying for Australia that the two who would've been considered comfortably their best two limited overs quicks in Lee and Harris have been rubbish in general for this whole series. Completely outperformed by Hilfenhaus, McKay and Christian.
Not sure why, but Lee has never done well against SL, especially at home. His home stats v SL are like AVG 47+, ECON 5+ something. He's done well v India though, and continued that in the Gabba ODI.

But yeah I expected more from Harris, can't really see why he's not up there. But he bowled brilliantly at the MCG in the first match, went without wickets though.

I think Lee's basic strategy over the years has been to bounce sub continent batsmen out. This works against India pretty well, but we have better players of the hook & pull than india. It just ends up costing him runs. In the game before this he persisted with the short stuff to dilshan and got hammered. I remember Aravinda doing the same thing back in 2003ish as well.

Up until this season Christian had a career eco rate of something like 6.3 in list a cricket. it's no surprise that he messed up. he's not a death bowler. but harris and lee being so crap put clarke in a pretty crappy spot. their poor performance cost the aus the game 'cause it forced clarke to look elsewhere and well
Yeah, Australia didn't react to Mahela's start at all well. They bowled a lot of crap, and to SL's credit they took great advantage of it.

Never mind Lee, we have the SL killer in Doherty :thumbup1:

There was an astonishing stat that came up last night - apparently, in 6 matches Doherty has dismissed him 4 times at an average of 16 or something. Incredible stat.
I'm a strong believer that Doherty's dominance of the classy Jayawardene in ODI's were a reason the selectors considered him for Test Cricket. I remember Doherty's first ODI wicket was Mahela, where he just seemed to play down the wrong line to a straightish one and got given LBW.

Anyway as for the game last night, I didn't like our bowling attack. I would prefer to have Harris playing Shield Cricket preparing for the Windies tour with Starc back in.

Bowled Sangakkara around his legs in that game as well, or at least that series.

Honestly though I don't think he bowled that well on that night. SL just batted abysmally.

But he has bowled well against them - and was outstanding last night - ever since.

What's wrong with Ian Healey? Sounded like one of those excited IPL commentators. Chandimal hits the ball and nearly gets caught but Healey was screaming as if it was going out of the ground.

Even Greig thought he was OTT.

Did he not get Sangakkara with one that turned massively?
