When it's added to twice as many IPL sides getting in as any other country, along with the IPL sides getting the first choice of players written into their contracts, it's quite clear that this tournament is designed to show off how much better than everyone else the IPL is.

Oh and it definitely does call itself "the World Cup of Club cricket".

I'm not saying it's not enjoyable, or even that bad, but there's a streak of hubris running through the whole thing.
I stand corrected.

Nah, it's designed to maximise financial returns. That's pretty obvious. The more IPL teams they fit in, the greater the viewer-ship in India. If the ECB weren't so snooty, they could've had in and affected the imbalance, but they chose not to.

Dhoni's going to need a much required rest but will nevertheless play here I'm sure.

FFS. Chennai need to stop winning **** so Dhoni can rest.

My little wishlist- that an Indian team wins the CLT20...without its overseas performers. And that both Yusuf Pathan and Murali Kartik have a good tournament.

But by then, the Aussies (Bollinger, Hussey) will be done with the SL tour

Im going to watch the CL as its the one & only cricket tv coverage (I think Eurosport shows it) in here. And perhaps gonna give it a try in fantasy cricket as well.

A rubbish money-spinner....

Trinidad reached the final the last time they played, and they've been shunted into the qualifiers. The teams are selected and grouped primarily on the basis of money, and not ability.

That was Season 2009. The next season, they didn't make it, and it was Guyana who qualified- and didn't last too long. There were concerns voiced by some Trinidad players about it, if I remember correctly.

Really hope anyone other than the IPL teams win. They steal all the other domestic teams players. South Australia and the Warriors were very good last year and New South Wales won it in 2009 so hopefully one of them can spoil the Indians party.

Somerset would give any of these teams a run for their money but will most likely be without their 4 best batsmen in the qualifiers. Pollard is playing for Mumbai, Trescothick doesn't tour anymore and Kieswetter and Buttler are likely to be playing for England. :(

Not Terrible
Lack of SL fans once again evident, and WI.

C'arn this match isn't that undeserving of our notice.
