What a game. Solid crowd too.

Victory almost spoilt by Haddin and Henriques though. Was absolutely furious. Haddin's dismissal, wicket-keeping and captaincy was all kinds of abysmal. The crowd were aware of the situation for a home final... and he brings on Henriques. Who has a history of screwing things up in similar situations.

I almost died.

Nah look, still angry.

Haddin should be dropped from life and Henriques better not bowl ever again. Not even to the kids he will never have because no-one will ever love him.

Raaaaaaaarggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Nev and Watson in for those two for the semi, kthx.

by the time Moz came on the home final was already gone. they needed 16 off 18 balls with 6 wickets left. the only way we were getting that home final was if someone took a hat-trick. (so uh bowl lee or starc?) the big mistake was Thornely instead of Smith when the Katich-North stand was in full flight. (and of course moz had that catch dropped at around that time). Not so much because of what happened - Smith may have gone for 12 or even more as super dom did in that ove - but because smith is always 10X more likely to get that wicket. dire captaincy. lacking in risk taking. etc. Not bowling Starc's last over when that stand was just forming could also be considered a big mistake. leaving Lee and Starc for the last two made little sense because just winning the match really meant nothing. If it came down to the last 2 overs we were highly likely to be ****ed.

but yeah a score of 31 coming in at 2/22, what should have been a wicket and the fact he can actually field will keep Moz in the time, as he should. Now Lumb......Nev would have captained better....

I doubt we were ever going to get the home final anyway tbf. Difficult to win by that margin against a good team. Can't blame it on tonight's performance, blame it on some of the games we lost.

we always had to bowl them out to do it, but we had them 3/34 with a long tail so. it's not that we didn't do it, it's that I don't think we tried to do it in the right way. As above, Smith is a wicket taker. So you don't bowl him?

@Mozzie21 Moises Henriques
Just keeping the crowd interested with those 2 chest high beamers. It was always under control. #geewhiz #givemethose2ballsback

don't like the **** but he's right you know

Well it's a fine line.

You want to win big and get that home final, but if you throw all your eggs in the one basket and it doesn't come off you have to play Perth at the WACA.

Think it's just the nature of it.

Yeah completely AWTA. Beat the best team in the comp tonight; this performance was not the problem.

truth be known i'm still in shock about smith making a 50 at 200. that'll never happen again

no matter how many times the aus selectors want it to.

It was a top knock indeed.

Still angreh btw. Some of the best 20/20 cricket I've ever seen mixed in the worst.

Didn't even chat to Yatesy.

Scenarios going into tonight's match

If the Melbourne Stars win the match, they will take the last semi-final spot.
If the Adelaide Strikers win without increasing their net run rate enough, the Brisbane Heat will take the last semi-final spot.
If the Adelaide Strikers win big, they might have increased their N/R enough to quality.
If the Stars do something crazy like holding Adelaide to 100 in 20 overs and then getting bowled out for 60 in like 2 overs, they can lose and still qualify on net run rate. This possibility is basically a non-factor but exists mathematically.

The Strikers' chances are roughly as follows, based on some calculation I did while bored at work:
If they bat first, and both teams bat for all 20 overs, they need to win by roughly 80 runs.
If they bat second, they would need to reach a target of 150 in 11.2 overs.

I think the Strikers are pretty much screwed and it's mostly between the Heat and the Stars for the last semi-final spot.

That's not how NRR works. If a team get bowled out the denominator is 20 overs.

I'd like to see a team get bowled out for 60 off 2 overs though.

W, W, W, 7nb, 7nb, 7nb, 7nb, 7nb, 7nb, 7nb, 7nb, W, W, W / 4, . , W, W, W, W

The bowler got so excited over his hattrick that he bowled 8 no balls in a row that all went for 6, then he gets another hattrick. What an over! 1-0-56-6
