Stepien is somewhat of a strange selection if he's going to be batting at 8 or 9. He's clearly there just because they need a keeper but he isn't even really much of a keeper, he's there and thereabouts this season because of his top-order batting, particularly in white-ball cricket.

I assumed when he was picked up by the Gades that he was going to batting at the top but if it was to bat 9 and keep you'd might as well have just gotten a better keeper. I guess it goes to show how little keeping ability matters to selectors in modern cricket, T20 especially, when you pick an ordinary keeper over a great keeper just because he's a better batsman even though he's probably not even going to bat.

I'll admit I didn't know a great deal about him other than being in quite some form at grade level, if his glovework isn't great as you are suggesting it is an odd selection

Prestwidge definitely shouldn't have played if he wasn't going to bowl. Dumb thinking from the Heat brains trust, if you play him he should certainly bowl ahead of Cutting. If not then just pick a batsman ffs

yeah or Lalor. Going down the middle was the worst option.

I would have gone Lalor because I don't care about batting at like number 7, but a batsman would have been fine too. they've literally picked a fielder...who has just ****ed up 2 times

I mean, expecting Ben Cutting to restrict a team to 6 or less is a tall order. Even 7 off 2 balls id be doubtful.

Man, that was not good enough from a professional cricketer but at the same time the captain had made it abundantly clear he doesn’t rate him in any capacity; so what is he doing out there?

If he’s not going to be trusted to bowl then the team is better by picking literally anybody else.
