Ponting had an additional comment where he basically all but said that Lynn should have steered the ship home instead of continuing to hit big

Yeah it was just Baz sticking up for his Bash brother and Punter who had done some research, saying Lynn needs to bat with more responsibility. He mentioned how regularly Heat win when he reaches 50.

Ah, didnt see Spikes post.

Honestly, de Villiers wicket was terrible. He had so much time to play himself in and make some downhill skiing runs. But he didn't. He wasted his wicket.

This is the problem the Heat have. Nobody is standing up and saying "I will do this". They're all saying "someone else will pick up the slack". It comes from Lynn's leadership really. It's his attitude and that rubs off on the team.

After Lynn was out, the Heat still only needed a run a ball which the batters below should've been able to manage comfortably. What a pathetic effort all round.

Yep. Exhibition type stuff to try and go inside out over cover 2nd ball when needing 6rpo . Much more culpable than Lynn.

I think it's fair enough for Lynn and Heazlett to go on blazing when they are 0 down, especially Lynn.

To resort to a cliche that's the way Lynn plays. The others imo have to adapt to the way he plays because he can be so destructive when he gets it right.

Not too dissimilar to last year's final

Nothing too major, McCullum said the Heat batted dumbly after Lynn got out, Ponting said Lynn was just as culpable himself, McCullum seemed to object to that. Both of them just seemed a bit annoyed at eachother
I'd say something along the lines of "you're both right"

Everyone ****ed up a bit.

Renshaw, Lynn and Heazlett I can forgive. The former because he's been making huge runs and got a good one first up. The latter two because they actually scored some runs.

ABDV wad dismissed by his ego
Burns got out panicking (Though it was Cutting's fault)
Pierson was lazy and really needs to lift his game
The tail can't be expected to win the game but they can put up a better fight than they did.

Just a terrible performance all round. Nonsense cricket from a team too concerned with their own stats and not enough with winning matches.

Still need to put somr blame on the openers though, even if only a small amount. If you're 0-80 off 6 overs chasing 160-odd the only way you're losing is a massive collapse. So the smart play is slowing down a bit to ensure you don't collapse. Still 98% the middle-order's fault.

I think it also speaks to a broader issue in BBL at the moment, as there have been quite a number of dreadful collapses this season (even just this week). Very few teams seem to be able to cope with losing a couple of wickets and exposing their middle orders.

I dont really know what I actually want from a BBL match any more.

Obviously closer finishes is a big help but aside from that, are the dropped catches, big collapses etc boring?

I dont like seeing drops but collapses are pretty fun.

i've said before that the heat have no actual game plan. they try to hit every ball for 4 or 6 and if that doesn't work they try to hit each ball for 8.

they don't think of looking for singles or twos.

ABDV is here for a retirement top up, if he really wanted to play, he should have committed for the whole tournament, so far, 40, 2, & 2 ( he must be getting paid a lot). i really hate overseas coming for a few games, getting well paid, and then hopping off somewhere else, most likely not worrying if the team doesn't do well.

were the indian bookmakers around tonight, you just couldn't see this in an under 12s comp.

not really surprising though is it. baz going all "right to be aggressive" "intent" "natural game" and ponting going "win the ****ing game first"

I went to bed when Chris Lynn had just got out.

Send them all back to England in chains.

I thought last night's game was great viewing. Probably the most entertaining game of the season for me
