Not according to the rules.

In any case I'm fine with it. There's an acre of the ground not being used with the boundary rope being about ten metres (or more) inside the fence. Fix that and I'll have some sympathy with those who dislike that being given.
I would prefer that once a catch is taken cleanly in the field of play, the ball is dead, the batter is out.
Doesn't matter if you run over the rope with it, you have already caught it.
Because every boundary is in, there is less room on the field.

Do as they do in AFL football.
If you have controlled the ball for a mark, it's given, even if you cross the boundary line, only if you juggle the ball and don't have control of it, is it then given as a throw in.

I'd be okay with that, though no doubt some niggly issue would arise.

The way it works currently means that the effective area of the field for catching is even smaller than the decreased area delineated by the rope because if you are moving you need to leave room for error. In comparison you used to be able to prop yourself against the fence and lean back if you wished.

The reduction in the BBL from its current 61-game season (to 43 games) will cut the length of the tournament with the aim of having it completed within the school holidays and it is hoped will improve availability of Australian and overseas players.
This sounds good, at least. Hope it might lead to some better crowds at the grounds too.
