*Official* Bangladesh in Zimbabwe

Challis

It's been ages since Bangladesh have played a Test match and quite annoying it's only a sole Test that they are playing. I did read somewhere that the BCB wanted more Test matches but the Zimbabwe board weren't keen, understandable as they are slowly returning back to the Test game. Bangladesh V Zimbabwe ODIs are fast becoming the new India V Sri Lanka ODIs, and we all know how exciting they are 8-)

My Test XI:

Tamim Iqbal
Imrul Kayes
Junaid Siddique
Shahriar Nafees
Mahmadullah Riyad
Shakib Al Hasan
Mushfiqur Rahim
Shafiul Islam
Abdur Razzak
Rubel Hossain
Robiul Islam

I don't think Nasir Hossain and Shuvagoto Hom are going to be considered for the Test match but will probably have a good chance in playing in the ODIs.
I've gone for the extra bowler as Bangladesh struggle to take wickets in Test matches and I think the pitches in Zimbabwe are going to be flat tracks so hopefully the the long tail won't get exposed too much. I wish the selectors had chosen Suhrawadi Shuvo instead of Razzak as the latter is dire in Tests, whilst Shuvo has good bowling and batting averages.

Tbh I love Bangladesh v Zimbabwe ODIs. It's pretty rare that you get to see those teams compete at a level that doesn't make the game a mismatch. Along with Ireland, they basically form their own tier of performance - if they play the big boys they're massive outsiders and if they play the teams below them they can expect similarly large favouritism themselves. I think it's an excellent way for them to improve.

Taibu is back

Zim XI squad to play Bangladesh in the 3 day warm up match starting on Saturday: Sibanda, Mawoyo, Chakabva, Ervine, Mutizwa, Utseya, Meth, Chatara, Ncube, Jarvis, Taibu. Looks like the selectors going to go with Vitori and Mpofu as the new ball pair. I like the idea of hiding Brian Vitori from the Bangladeshis because they have no idea of what he's about therefore they can't make a plan on how to play him. Chakabva was sloppy with his glovework against Aus A, but he still has a chance to make the team as a batsman that is if Ervine fails. Taibu's return also strengthens the Zim middle order.

Bangladesh have started terribly, currently 30/4 against the Zim XI.

Ashraful with a 9 ball duck, surely he can't play in the first Test..

Wow, I bet it's hardly a minefield as the scorecard makes it look.
Looking forward to the series, I like Bangers vs Zim.

Teams are pretty evenly matched. Looking forward to see vitori, meth for 1st time.

Bangladesh lose to a second string Zimbabwe squad. I expect a backlash im the main test and the Zim team better prepare themselves for the wounded Tiger. Should be an interesting Test.

Best news to come from that probably is that Mutizwa has forced himself into the Test team; he certainly deserves it.

Second best news to come from that is the Zimbabwe XI win, of course.

Roll on the real stuff.

It appears I'm wrong as they've announced the squad and he's not ****ing in it. Grrr...

Mawoyo and Chakabva ahead of him? Why? :(

Good question, why? I am not Mutizwa's biggest fan, but every time he's been picked to represent Zim he has delivered. Chakabva on the other hand has only repaid the selectors' faith in him with 20's, 30's and the occasional 40. These selectors never seize to surprise me.
