***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

Last year, when I was in sook mode by day 5 of Pakistan test. I was moaning that Bay Oval groundsmen was going to cost us any chance of making the WTC final. In hindsight it was about 10 minutes away from that scenario.

This is a crazy pitch to present to Bangladesh.

Would like more like this in Plunket shield though. We have things arse to front last few years on pitches for test v FC.

There aren't very many fast scorers in the NZ team now with Rosco just a shadow and CdG out.

NZ victory the least likely of the 3 options.
I think the only chance of NZ victory is if they get bowled out with a 150+ run lead mid way through tomorrow afternoon session, then pick a cherry which swings. They can't get far enough ahead to declare.

There is absolutely no way we are going to set out to make a big score at 4RPO or whatever. Only way we win this is by accident (i.e. we get bowled out and leave Bangladesh an unduly favourable equation and they bottle it).

We were too shy/lax about stat-padding 'against Bangladesh at home' in the first innings but there should be no such reticence here - nothing short of a century from each opener pls.

Latham is one that usually doesn't miss out twice on flat wickets at home. HTB Kaneh must wish he was here too .

Lot's of hate for the Mt Maunganui wicket on-line, but it has produced an interesting and competitive test so far. I guess everyone wants green seamers that are over in 3 days. Also worth remembering that the stunning weather and lack of cloud cover that has been a feature of Mt Maunganui tests means that you get less swing. On the plus side, stunningly fine weather means that we are not getting rain interrupted games at the venue, maximising playing hours and spectator attendance. You can have spicy wicket with pace and bounce but if it rains for 4 days at the venue then it's neither here nor there.

If we had had a series of draws at the ground then the hate could be well founded, but the last match here was a thriller & talking about fourth innings collapses here as if it's just wierd happenstance at this ground misses the fact that teams often wilt in a fourth innings on the fifth day when chasing, no matter what the venue...pressure of the situation and the toll of days of hard grind does funny things to all teams.

A well-deserved wicket for Taskin, I thought he was the pick of the bowlers despite going wicketless in the first innings.
