Cricket Web Black v Bangladeshis

Black made it home easily for a 98-run victory over dejected tourists, with Ben Fox and Dan Smith stars in a glorified hit-out. Black won the toss and batted first, and a Bangladesh side without Rafique and Razzak were always going to struggle against the in-form line-up of the Dev League. What was perhaps a little more surprising was the way the in-form batsmen threw away their wickets.
James Stedman, for example, settled for 34 runs today; he then attempted to sweep Saqibul's slower full toss and was beaten. With Arnold, Blackman and McMeekin all providing quick runs, it was up to Armstrong and Smith to settle against the hittable medium pace from Reza and Rasel. This was done with precision and care, and the two shared a stand of 164 for the fifth wicket, effectively killing all hopes of an away win. Smith was the dominant partner, thumping nine fours and a six in his 90-ball hundred, and also batted till the end, while Armstrong eventually padded up to Mortaza and was out for 63.
Defending 296 against Bangladesh was as easy as expected. The tourists shoved their better batsmen down the order in order to give the lesser names such as Tamim and Farhad a good innings; but Fox took three wickets in his opening spell, and despite thumping from Ashraful and Mortaza and more dignified rearguards from Bashar and Rahim, Bangladesh were whittled out for 198. Corey McMeekin took three for 35 as the Bangladeshis grew frustrated with their enterprise.
Cricket Web Black 296 for five (50 overs)
DP Smith 104, AJ Blackman 43
Bangladeshis 198 all out (45.3 overs)
Habibul Bashar 48; BB Fox 4-29, CR McMeekin 3-35
Cricket Web Black won by 98 runs
Man of the Match: D. P. Smith (Black)
