How Nick Kruger didn't play a game this season is beyond me. Note the records of Broad, Stevens and co.

SA finished the season pretty well. In the FR Cup atleast. Makes you think about how easily they could have made atleast one final this season.

I thought Tim Paine was an average keeper and Matthew Wade was a really good keeper. Why did Paine play as the keeper and Wade as a specialist batsmen, if Wade is meant to be a better keeper. I always thought the reason why Wade couldn't get into the Tassie side was that his batting wasn't up to par, now he plays a specialist batsmen. Have i just been hearing and reading the wrong things about Wade and his an average keeper but a solid batsmen. Or is Paine a lot better then keeper then i thought. Not a big issue but i was just wondering, what the deal was with Wade playing as specialist batsmen.

Jimmy maher has really got mad about Buchanan ordering all the world cup squad players from not playing in the finals.
I think its just that maher is frustrated because if guys like watson, johnson would have played for the bulls their chances of winning would have been a lot higher. IMO its a wise decision to rest the WC squad players so that there are no further injuries.

I tend to disagree. Although I'm a QLDer, he's right in saying that the WC is three weeks away and, "I hope they didn't cook last night, they might have burnt themselves." If the WC was 5 days away or it was a round 3 clash you could understand, but it is 3 weeks away and the final. The sponsors wouldn't be happy and neither would the spectators. Who's to say these players aren't going to injure themselves in the warm-up games anyway. Should we send a 2nd squad to play in the warm up games to protect the first 15?

Well clearly Hayden was never going to play follwing his injury and I don't think Maher has a problem with it, but I agree that Watson and Johnson need all the games they can get.

It's stupid how they wrap up players in cotton wool because either Watson or Johnson could be involved in a car accident tomorrow or trip on a step or anything then be injured in a match.

Yeah i an ideal scenario i would say blokes like hodge, johnson, watson should play in the finals but the way things have been going over the last 2 weeks for australia nobody wants to take a risk. Especially with someone as injury-prone ( even unlucky) like watson who could yet again get injured and miss the world cup. The situation is dire hence such dire decisions are being taken.

But, if Watson were to get injured, wouldn't it be better for the team if it happened this weekend with 3 weeks to recover, than in a warm-up game or early WC game where he could quite possibly be out of the tournament and disrupt the team?

i'm sure i read somewhere that Johnson has a slight ankle strain, and like Hayden, wouldn't have played anyway. I'd definetly give Watson the game though, more for his bowling than anything else.

Also to help the Vics winm  , would be rather nice.

I imagine Watson's probably carrying something, if they aren't playing him. He'd definitely benefit from the game time otherwise.
