Disagree. He needs a run in the ODI side. I've got no issue with him being picked for the CB Series finals if he's fit, in fact. They're still a week or so away after all. If he doesn't have enough bowling under his belt by then he should certainly play all three games in NZ.
well when i made this post Symonds wasn't injured & all things were well, so the need for Watson to come back wasn't needed. But a lot has changed, the blokes behind the scene are saying Watson is fully fit now, so lets hope he is & doesn't break down.

Jaques continuing his return to form with another 50, go Phil :)

Edmonson gets Jaques for 71, with the score at 82...

Whoa at Clark's hattrick, and WA's start. They were 4/2!

Edit: Cosgrove finally in the runs, hit 109 off 144 against Queensland

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Katich  I saw he was 6 off 66 and lol'led. Ended up making a real captains knock that NSW needed.

Clark kept on with it today, stunning figures of 8/58 in the end.

Working absolute wonders with the red ball ever since his test debut. This season for NSW he has 19 wickets @ 14.11.

Ronchi is making a bit of a name for himself. If Gilly stays on a little while longer, and given Hartley's struggles with the bat, Ronchi is positioning himself nicely on the rails in the race for the Test keeper's job.

Yeah Ronchi would be ahead of Hartley right now, if Gilchrist and Haddin were both unavailable, at least in ODIs. No idea who'd get the gig in tests, but Ronchi would be a fair chance there as well. Hartley can keep as well as he wants, but he'll need to make some runs to get selected.

It all falls back to how long Gilly plays on, I guess. If he retires (which I think he will) after our next Test Summer (which could, incidentally, end in Perth) then Haddin would be red hot favourite. However, if he plays on for another two years, it's likely the selectors will go to the next generation of Ronchi, Hartley and Paine. Though I notice that Paine has been stripped of the gloves for Tassie's next Pura Cup game.

I wonder if the Gabba curator, in light of our woeful home batting performances this Summer, was told to produce a more benign strip for this Pura Cup game. Certainly the current match has been nothing like previous games this year. It can't have helped Queensland, with arguably an already weak batting line-up (with no Watson, Symonds, Hayden and Love) to have to play on a grass tennis court each home game. They were really shooting themselves in the foot producing green tops.

Crosthwaite not in the mix?

Another pretty good game for Jaques, with 50 in each innings on a lively wicket.

NSW should really win pretty easily tomorrow.

Crosthwaite not in the mix?
There are 4 keepers in the mix. It's dire for Crosthwaite, coming through at a very competitive time. He probably is ahead of the rest on glovework (maybe par with Hartley), but on batting he's yet to prove himself in BOTH forms.

Haddin up to 70 so far, only Macgilla left though so he will likely miss the hundred (or Macgill might beat him too it the way hes been batting this season ;))
