Tasmania have been a couple batsmen short all season. It bad enough playing Butterworth in the top six. But really Krejza and Geeves aren't all rounders. They can hold a bat, but should be batting at 8 and 9, not 6 and 7. Really need to pick a couple more batsmen.

Impressive from Hughes and Warner, very solid victory for NSW.
Some observations from the game today. Faulkner looks a good bowler, first time I have seen him bowl, for someone so young he has been doing a very solid job for Tasmania this season. Yet to see him do anything with the bat yet, hope he delivers something before the season ends.
An asterix should be placed against he wickets taken by Steven Smith tonight. Good on him to clean out the innings, but four junktime wickets against four very average batsman does not make one a superstar leg-spinner.
Big question mark over the Tasmanian selection policy. I agree with most of the opinions, the tail starts far too early. Surely Tasmania have a decent enough batsman to slot in the 6 or 7 position, even Ed Cowan would surely be worth a shot considering the form he is in.

Last year and previous marsh was no 6,and tassies allrounder.
Now tassie has ****ed policy and played a allrounder or bowler at six.
1 game even brett geeves open for them when they played 4 batsmen.
Its a failed policy,you have a collpase your out of the game.

Bailey's problem isn't accuracy as much as it is the speed he bowls at; it's seen as a harder problem to correct and of course he's a little older as well. I suppose there's also the fact that he's had a poor record over a longer period of time and there's a chance Smith's record doesn't reflect his current ability but I don't buy that myself. I definitely think Bailey's significantly the better bowler of the two at the moment and if forced to pick between the two I'd take him over Smith in a heartbeat but although I disagree with it quite strongly I can see the logic in what the selectors are doing.

I would bring back Dighton who is suited perfectly to this format.

Could talk about fifty things from the match tonight, most noticably my mates, one who had a bet on Paine making fifty, and another that Aaron Bird would take three wickets, haha, but will look at this.
I'm the first person to have a go at Smith's bowling... but he was fantastic tonight. I know it was only four overs of a 20/20, and I hate to say this - but it was reminiscent of a young Warne. I think Warne must have had a chat to him, his arm was higher and was really driving through his action.
If he can replicate what he showed tonight, and that is a big if, we have something huge.

I *did* watch a lot of young Warne and Smith is similar in some ways. It's not technique (Smth is more Sleep than Warne) and certainly not turn. Think it's his body language and aura more than anything. Just has the ability to take wickets even if ya can't pinpoint why. I see why people rate him so highly. That said, everyone said the same thing about Shannon Tubb (who?!? Yeah exactly).
One thing Warne had even from ball 1, though, was accuracy, big drift and big turn. He took a while to work out his lengths but even though he got smashed in his first Test, he ripped a few past Shastri's bat too. As I've said before, get the feeling that Smith would be the same if picked; would likely get tonked but would put a few batters on notice that once he put the whole package together, he'll be dangerous.
