Sedate start from NSW today. Hughes a touch unlucky to be given LBW, whereas Warner looked plumb and not given.

Drew bowled well. He must surely be a frustration for Tasmanian fans, capable of bowling some beautiful wicket taking deliveries, and then throws in a ton of half volleys. He has been around for a number of years now, and he largely hasn't improved from the bowler he was in his debut season. Disappointing, as the potential is there.

I realise North Sydney takes spin, but taking in only three blokes who can bowl seam up is a bit of a risk in a one day match imo.

I hope Tasmania win this match.

The batting order for NSW is surprising to say the least and having Clarke in there looking to get some time in the middle and failing was a bit of a joke.

Good on Tassie for opening the bowling with Krejza, Bailey is a gun captain!

Yeah, especially since NSO is the size of a teacup. There's a bit of turn but if a batsman lines up a spinner he can really go for plenty.

Smith helping NSW to a pretty decent score, what a terrific young cricketer he is. Just highlights that at North Sydney Oval you are always a chance of posting a big total regardless of the pace of the wicket. Even the miscued arial shots are always a chance of clearing the fence.

For Tasmania to win you expect Bailey will have a large role to play.

Have to say I'm fantastically happy with QLD at the moment.

Why did Walter only bowl 4 overs?

Surely Jaques fall from grace is now complete. In 2005/06 he broke a number of batting records in the ODD comp and finished with an average of 96 for the season. Now he's been relegated to 6th bat.

I hasten there will be changes to NSW after this.
Gotta ask is it worth picking clark in one dayers anymore.
Jaques got shuffled down as NSW look for quick runs.
Bad day all round.
The worry tho clark 120 km's/ph

I think Burt must be seriously in the frame for a ODI middle order spot this summer if he keeps playing like this. Good to see Smith in the runs aswell, people might look at the card and see it was NSO and dismiss his knock, but he really did hit the ball fantastically...those five sixes he hit were maximums on any ground.

I would think bailey is a better bet, more secure, and its not as if voges or dave hussey are setting the world alight.
They said on abc radio baileys grandpa went on and ashes trip,no wonder he chose cricket over footy, didn't stop dave boons' son tho.

Yeah I kinda agree with you actually, I certainly don't think Bailey is any more deserving than Birt of a spot, but just the way I've heard Hilditch speak of Bailey in the past...seems he's a player they've always considered capable of playing international cricket if he achieved some consistency for Tasmania. Whereas Birt hasn't come through the traditional Australian U19 pathway, and besides when he played a few games for Aus A a couple of years back he's mostly been under the radar.

Actually travis birt a local junior for victoria opened for australia under 19,but did not play in a youth world cup, afterwards he was given a victorian rookie contract which he lost, remember peter dickeson was in the same side.

There is something seriously wrong with the Foxtel speed gun.

It was clocking Lee at just 130km consistently yesterday.

I've noticed it all throughout the summer actually.
