It's right up there with the worst selections we've seenI'm glad we picked Manjot in that game. Tremendous contribution; really balanced the side well by batting #10, being the sixth bowlier used in each innings, bowling less overs than Henriques in both of them and going wicketless.
I've got nothing against the kid but giving him such a pointless role in the side doesn't do anyone much good. Having one more batsman in the first innings really could've made a massive difference too.
his comms are top shelfHe belongs to ABC now.
When does the bowling ever look short? Its always 4 quicks and a spinner or 3 quicks and 2 spinners.Ludeman and Botha screw their balance so badly. Always look either a batsman or bowler short.
He probably means the end of last season, when they selected teams like this. When does the bowling ever look short? Its always 4 quicks and a spinner or 3 quicks and 2 spinners.
Nah he was perfect for a team with Botha and Ludeman in it if he performed to his ability.Don't think Christian balanced the side even in theory.
And they'll come right back down to the pack halfway through that game when he hobbles off halfway through an over again.South Australia will be the best team in the comp once McDonald comes back.
Hmm. In the context of the conversation it seemed like he would have been talking about this years South Australian team., but yes, last years it wasn't balanced. This year, with a relatively settled top 5 at the moment, it isn't that big a problem having Botha and Ludes at 6, 7 as it helps them take 20 wickets consistently. He probably means the end of last season, when they selected teams like this.
They spent quite a bit of last season with one of either Botha or Ludeman at 8, originally because Christian balanced their side like that really well in theory. He just didn't perform though so he got dropped, and they haven't really been able to find the ideal balance since he left. Brown and Miller don't quite cut it as fifth bowling options as Botha/Ludeman aren't good enough as a 6/7 combination. McDonald was obviously their solution originally but he hasn't been fit.
Just for the duration of the BBL I presume?Jackson Bird, new Magpie
