Really disappointed to see North ending up on the losing side, i mean what a knock from him brought Warriors back into the game from nowhere and great support from Dorey too, he certainly had a great game.

As far as Marcus North is concerned he reminded everyone again that how good a player he really is, he missed out on most of the last season due to injury, but what a way to start his season, hopefully he kicks on from here and makes a lot of runs this season.

Good win for the "Baby Blues" though, not many were giving them much of a chance at the start of the season, but today they displayed a very spirited performance and the kind of youthful energy that was there on display from the Blues was amazing to watch.
A bit curious here pup, were you seeing this game on TV.

4 day squad.

I would probably go with..

1 Dighton
2 Lockyear
3 Birt
4 Bailey
5 Marsh
6 Paine
7 Butterworth
8 Doherty
9 Geeves
10 Denton
11 Hilfenhaus.

I've got to admit I don't know much about Tim MacDonald.
Medium fast bowler originally from WA. Had a riproaring 2nd XI season, got a guernsey with Tas.

It was an odd move for McDonald to move to Tasmania, IMO. Surely it would be harder to break into the Tigers side ahead of Hilfenhaus, Geeves, Griffith, Drew, Wegman, Duval, etc. than it would be to get in a side whose pecking order is basically Magoffin, Edmondson, Dorey, McLauchlan, Gillies...

Yup, i was watching it.
damn lucky you yo. Especially given both of us have apparently commited a patriotic sin in supporting Australia, but only you are getting the first hand view of Australian domestic competitions.

McLauchlan and Gillies are gone.

James Hopes to open for Qld in the long form of the game. Why??
Do you have the likely lineup?

I would say the reason why is that QLD wanted an experienced batter to partner one of the young guys in Ryan Broad at the top of the order, instead of having two younger guys opening, followed by all experienced batters from 3 to 6.

Jack, or anyone else...whats the deelio with the overseas players in grade cricket in Victoria? assumed it was one per grade but saw that both Tom Smith and Gareth Cross played for St Kilda on the weekend (evidently Cross isn't wicketkeeping either since he took 4-41, Smith took 2-20 and both failed with the bat).

I saw it on the AAP wire earlier where the 12th man was still to be named. The order was Broad, Hopes, Love, Symonds, Moller, Noffke/Simpson (I'm guessing for Simpson), Hartley, Harris, Doran, Swan, Sullivan.

Surely you'd drop Doran and bowl Symonds for your spin? There's plenty of other bowling options to weather the heat.

In Syndey you can have max of two per side. I think it the same in the other states.

Simpson could/should play as main spinner. He might be dire, but anything better then specialist no 10 batsmen that never bowls in the game. Also Simpson the captain of side, so he spot secure. It between Swan, Sullivan and Doran for the last two spots.

Yeah I would drop Doran for sure, really not a fan of his at all.

Noffke, Harris, Sullivan, Swan, Hopes - pace
Simpson, Symonds - spin

Is a great deal of options, you could almost pick another batter like Perren instead of Swan, but I am happy with the squad.

Would love to see Martin Love get back to somewhere close to his best this season, not too confident of this happening though.

Lee Carseldine imo

Hopes out in the first over.

Looks like Qld are going to do to his season what they did to Watson's last summer.

Opener is a specialist position.

Feel most sorry for Ryan Harris, probably would have felt that the days of being 4/oh-my-god-we're-in-trouble were behind him when he left SA.
