Is that any different from a spinner replacing Hazlewood in the sub continent?
I do think it's slightly different to that because it's not like it's a totally different style per se. Spin vs pace is different to "Head has sucked so far". It'd be more like Haze being left out in South Africa for Boland or Neser because his record is **** there.

They definitely do more of this with bowlers than batsmen and there's a double standard but I don't think it's quite the same as what you're saying.

I don't agree at all. If you're leaving Haze out for a spinner it's because the conditions make the spinner more effective than Haze for that game, when he usually wouldn't be.

That's no different from theoretically leaving a batsman that is bad at playing spin or on spinning wickets, with a batsman that is better at it, because you think they will be more effective for that game. It's that simple, how is it any different?

I mean Australia were quite happy to leave Starc out for Siddle in the 2019 Ashes despite Siddle clearly being the worse bowler due to perceived differences in how they bowl in England.
Yeah it does happen, and certainly more than for batsmen. I just don't think it's the same as changing the pace/spin balance.

This has been such a strange bowling performance. Anderson Phillip is usually 135 to 145kph, today he is bowling at Holder's pace. Holder himself is right down in the early 120s. Wtf is wrong with them?

I don't think I've seen bowling this toothless in Test cricket here since Bangladesh came in 2003

Even in 2000-01 when the Windies lost 5-0 they had Nixon McLean, Mervyn Dillon, Cameron Cuffy and a few other guys who were at least hitting 140kph, to back up Walsh. This is so tame.

This is the slowest attack I've seen here in my twelve years watching the game, even when you include Joseph.

The reserve keeper has come on to bowl (too late etc etc) and he's legitimately quicker than one of the openers.

I mean, Holder's never been quick, usually high 120s, but he's way off the pace here. Thomas' first spell was faster.

I've watched the last hour of this and there's an alarming lack of intensity. This isn't Test cricket ffs
