It’s been interesting after a fashion hearing Langer commentate. He has this very ingratiating manner, and he knows all the correct lines you’re supposed to say in a corporate/government way. It’s tremendously irritating.

i've said it before but his voice is so terrible for commentary even if his insights themselves aren't particularly offensive

It’s very sort-of not whining tone exactly, but he sounds like someone always eager to please. Guaranteed, that on its own doesn’t mean anything, but when combined with what he actually says, the impression is very strong.

All the series are 2 test series… the few we play. It an absolute farce. CSA are chasing the money… and soon it will also be the only thing our talented players will bother chasing.

That's shocking. I just had a look, SA are playing only 2-match test series till late 2026. They're gonna go 4 years without a 3 match series.


On the other hand, look at their schedule for next WTC cycle. It's a walk in the park.

2 matches v IND, SL, PAK at Home
2 matches v BAN, WI, NZ away

They can easily win 8 or 9 of the 12 matches, if not more and have a crazy WTC record of around 67-75%. So I am totally expecting them to make the final next time. How can they not when they are playing neither Aus nor Eng, and playing ONLY subcontinent teams at home and easier teams away.
