This isn’t a fair comparison because Lyon has a much superior bowling support in comparison to Kapil who enjoyed negligible bowling support in 80s .
If Kapil played in current Indian team he would be averaging around 25 .

Similarly Lyon would be averaging around 28-29 if Australian pitches weren’t absolutely roads .

Lyon definitely trusted more at least by the Aussie side in pace friendly conditions.

Also yes, Lyon > MacGill imo. Not necessarily in terms of talent, but career wise definitely.
