Looks like our 3rd XI is in a bit of strife here.
Missing two of your best players, but still about 7-8 ODI regulars in Starc, Cummings, Hazel, Marsh (kind of), Finch (stiff to be dropped), Maxwell & Faulkner, & possibly Head isn't there?

Surely Khawaja now counts as one of Australia's best players. When 3 of your ideal top 4 are out it's a bit tough to recover. We looked dreadful when we were missing only one of ours (Taylor) in the December series. Still, can only play what's in front of you and all that.

Fair to say Ferguson would be feeling a lot more comfortably playing at his domestic home(ish) ground with the temp at 24C against an inexperienced batting lineup. Was much harder debuting in Australia - could surely put some of the wides and no-ball problems down to nerves.

Decent all-round showing from Stoinis - best bowling figures, and now the highest score.

How's his speeds been holding up?
Closer to 140 than 150 overall, a couple at 150, but has bowled straight and into the wicket. Plenty of short ones around 143 clicks, but really hurrying them up.

Been impressive. I'm glad they punted on him. Would have been very easy to select Henry.

Selectors have a love affair with Travis for whatever reason

Sure you can add Khawaja if you like, although I'm not convinced he's a better opening partner for Warner than Finch is. Either way, it's a big factor not having Warner & Smith, but no 3rd XI. Be equivalent to us going into a game without Guptill & KW.

I don't know that he is tbh. He looked cod ordinary for the most part against Pakistan in the ODI series. I suspect he may not have been "rested" for the last game of that series.

Don't think Khawaja has ever been automatic best XI ODI format. Been on the fringes of the side for ages but never really made the most of his opportunities. And his moderate record is pumped up with an unbeaten 82* against Ireland.

Williamson should bowl some overs himself so Neesham can bowl fewer. Give Munro and Guptill a surprise over each too.

This partnership's run rate has crept up from 3.4 to over 5. Starting to feel slightly twitchy.
