this was always a chance of happening at the death in the world cup ftr, it's just in the world cup not many teams were good enough to make it to the death against NZ.

that and Milne was there to bowl too fast for any jammy norounders hiding down the order.

Because sides were usually 6-7 down. Kane seems happy to sit on them with Santner, have Colin go for 4-5s while they're 2-3 down. Nah. Bowl Henry through, empower Tim/Trent to pitch it up and swing it, set better fields. I know it's early days but Kane's safety first captaincy is grating on me. Not to mention bowling first because of the chance of rain. When score batting first at a venue are as lofty as they are here, just bat. If it rains, then that's bad luck.

i agree, i'm just saying that the difference is we're not getting those wickets up front. if we hadn't in the world cup we would have been similarly exposed

Absolutely. And it's why if/when Mitch is fit, he comes straight back in. If he's taking 4-60 off 10, he's doing a fine job.

This isn't a highway, incidentally? Okay, we'll use the US vernacular - it's a freeway. Autobahn. M1. Whatever.

Latham has to go here... he can't afford to do what Guptill was doing to Ryder/McCullum a couple of years ago.

Oh looks like this will be another "A Latham innings that disappoints Hendrix immensely" episode

Now have a look at this bowling from Oz. They pitched it full and got clubbed by Guptil. They have then changed their length accordingly and have made it difficult for the NZers to score. Guptil now has to play forced shots to get runs. That's what Oz want him to do and this was something NZ was unable to do to the Oz batsmen.

I don't for a second believe Latham is one of the best openers we have in this country..

He is trash in LOI's.

Please let that be the end of Latham in ODI cricket.

Williamson and Guptill are our best possible opening combination.

And good bye Latham. Disappointing innings comes to an end. Sure if you can't score the boundaries then push for singles and rotate the strike. Otherwise you are no good to anyone.

Latham's form has gone south since the India tour. Guppy on the other hand..
