The Aussie batting top 3 for WC looking solid today

1. Warner
2. Finch
3. Khawaja

Usman should open i think. Like to see Arun in the middle with Smith back at 3
Arun sucks in the middle. Plus left-right combo at the top is a bonus. Smith will be perfect at 4 - he's the best player of spin after all.

what kind of a god awful bowling attack are pakistan playing with. I thought these were practice games for the WC.

Not really the Australian way, so to speak, to break up an opening partnership that appears to be working, especially with the WC so close, even against the threadbare attack they faced here. Not without good reason anyway. FInally seeing some scores from Khawaja so they might just bat Warner lower.

From a Pakistani perspective, from what I've seen of this series while the bowling will get the blame I think it's the batting that's the problem. Far too timid in the middle overs and with century makers who took far too many deliveries to reach their milestone. I know they lost early wickets with Oz a bowler down they were far too conservative.

Great results for Oz; who would be thought six weeks ago trying to fit in Warner & Smith would be their biggest headache?

wtf is Finch doing bowling himself 10 overs. And even worse how is Pakistan letting him get away going for only 41 runs? He is terrible.

Yeah Warner at 4 or 5 might be the go tbh. I'd back him to be more versatile in the middle order than Finch. Especially if they insist on playing Smarsh.

Finch returning to form makes such a huge difference for Australia since he was always a starter for the world cup.

It's good to see some wins before the WC. This makes 5 in a row, which is more than the previous two years combined.

Richardson got hurt diving to try to save a boundary off the filth being dished up by Stoinis.

Yeah, Khawaja just keeps churning them out, whcih is a worry because you just know he'll fail when it really matters. But given they'll now doubtless pick him, they might throw Warner in at three and Smith at four. Maxwell needs to make some runs, though I would always have him in the side. They'll be looking for a reason to leave him out with so many other blokes doing well now.

I think they should throw a young gun like Sangha or Jack Edwards into the side for the WC, looking to the future

Warner in the middle order is a dumb idea. Tried it in the T20 World Cup a few years back and it didn't work then, see no reason to try again

Yeah no ****. I completely expect Khawaja's form to crater in a couple of months.

That said, could easily be wrong. For mine the larger problem is capitalising on whatever start given by the openers. I know I keep buying the Stoinis hype but damn if I don't get disappointed a lot. And the line-up, as a whole, still sucks against the moving ball and spin, which is expected to play a big role this cup.

Exactly. Khawaja loves no. 3 anyway, and his spin-play has seen the biggest improvement possible in this time.

Finch, Khawaja and Smarsh locked in for top 3 in WC, as is Maxwell with the best Aussie SR in history. Handscomb also doing well, while Turner adds the Warner factor...Stoinis ODI player of the year...why upset a winning combo, Smith and Warner for the A tour
