There's very, very rarely a genuinely unplayable delivery where the batsman couldn't have done better to defend it. Considering the whole over, maybe we can consider it good bowling rather than microanalysing the batting faults.
Who is this supposed to be directed at

Do you think the boundaries are big enough though?
They are here, I think. It's when NZ tries to build a ground up to something like mid-late 20th century standards that they seem to get into strife - the boundaries come in, as though having grandstands means you can't have ground space.

Santner isn't a 7 and Smith won't be for a couple of years.

Henry, Jamieson plus 2/3 from Smith/O'Rourke/Sears

Spin from Phillips and Ravindra
Santner-Smith-Henry is a very strong 7-9. KJ ideally, but we've gotta live in the real world here, he's unlikely to be fit very often.

I like the aesthetics of these NZ grounds
This ground was specially built (raised banks, stands, facilities, lights etc) for cricket after the 2011 EQ. Previously cricket had been at Lancaster Park (the old rugby ground that was destroyed). A lot of people tried to stop the Hagley Oval development as it in a major innercity urban park near the hospital, but it is very good (for Chch).

Lost in everything else that's going on here is Marnus actually batting at a reasonable tempo and not fishing for every ball.

NZ need to get Head out asap here. He looks in a mood and they haven't got many to play with.

That shot off the back foot through cover might have got him going. Looked very settled since then

This is genuinely great news and awesome planning on the part of those who developed it then. It looks like it creates a great vibe. Cheers for the info.
