Why is Jayasuriya not opening the bowling here? It's turning square and this is a pitch where it's been hardest to bat vs spin when the ball is still hard. ISTG if this is just a "lol two left handers so I'm gonna spam off spin" thing.

If the game finishes before lunch do the players still get to eat the lunch?
I think no- they will go to the Hotel /outside to eat which is close by. Lunch is for matches that are in progress.

Theyre getting annihilated here SL. this is the most convincing subcontinent test series victory ever for Australia and for any touring nation to the subcontinent -surely ever.

This is a great line of questioning. Surely the lunch has been made and catered for, therefore they eat it?
Given they will be celebrating the victory in the change rooms, practically i reckon it will be served in the rooms not in the main table.

Yeah, there's a few without even thinking - Siddons, Law, Elliott, di Venuto, Hodge, Bichel, even MacGill and I'm sure there's more who suffered from the era they played in being incredibly strong.

There wasn't a lot of rotation in those days, playing less formats, Tests were the pinnacle and so on, so you didn't get the opportunities like you do now. And you had to cop it if you weren't getting picked, unless you wanted to change sports.

I almost puked the other day, Matt Short was asked to provide a cricketing comparison to the Doncic/AD mega trade and he used Fraser-McGurk's name. It shouldn't be like this. Cooper Connelly should be about 20th in line for a Test XI berth, but here we are and we have to like it, I guess. Welcome to 2025. England did it with Bethell in the recent NZ series - picking him at 3 having never scored an FC hundred batting 5 and below - and to be fair, it didn't go poorly.
Below is a list of players who played in the period - late 1980s through to the early to mid 2000s who played little to no Test cricket for Australia due to Australian cricket being very very strong in terms of batting depth and not being able to get into the Australian Test team regularly or at all.

Yeah like how far beforehand will they make the lunch? Let's say you win the match an hour before lunch, probably they're just starting to prepare the meal so I guess you'd have to wait around so you can eat it?
