In defense of Boucher (and Billy) I get the feeing what they were checking was whether it was a bump ball... ie Bouch got to the ball on the full and it bounced after he edged it...

In which case Boucher was entitled to stand there and Billy was entiteled to check upsatirs as he would where their is uncertainty as to whether the ball carried to the fielder
