A lot of our batsmen these days look like England's in 89 - playing across the line to full, straight balls. It's a technical/ coaching problem surely. Ponting, Khawaja, Hussey. All lbw or bowled not playing straight. Watson is a big lbw candidate early as well.

Seriously, check out footage of Alderman's wickets against England in 89. It's alarmingly similar.

It was a good ball, it was also poorly played, deal with it.
A test class batsman should not get bowled to that delivery. LBW yeah maybe if your head gets outside it, but it was just a nothing shot.

Top_**** summed it up, SA have just paralysed Australia with extended pressure. When was the last time they bowled a genuine loose boundary ball?

Yeah, we've managed 6/64 off the 31 overs since lunch. Just giving us nothing.

Haha. Yeah it was a good ball, but you were puffing dust all over my screen about it. Decent test players keep them out ffs.

Deal with that.
Hmm no one's good enough to keep them out every time. They'll keep them out most of the time but if the bowler keeps on putting it there, it's only a matter of time.

FFS, this isn't 1998 anymore. You guys expect way too much of your team.
It's not so much expecting dominance, it's expecting players from an established test country, several of whom are either very good or great given their records, to have the technical prowess to deal with the ball moving sideways.

And I don't mean extravagant sideways or unplayable. I mean basics like playing upright and straight.

That's right. But when you see a pattern developing in the way they are playing, something needs to be done about it.

In fairness to Huss, even if the ball wasn't a jaffa, it was hot on the heels of a good sequence. Doesn't need to be a jaffa when the bowling around the wicket ball is good.
