Amazing how closely this Aussie side resembles the side of the mid/late 80's in style/mannerisms/composition and even which state some of them are from!

Andy McDonald = Tony Dodemaide
Peter Siddle = Merv
Brad Haddin = Healy (fumbles and all)
Bryce McGain = Bob Holland
Mitchell Johnson = Bruce Reid (injury-wise, I certainly hope not)
Kat = Kepler Wessels ( a little)

That the selection squad is made of cricketers from that era making a difference? haha

Two drop catches and a good impression of deer caught-in-headlights. I can't see Imraan being at the crease come tomorrow.

In spite of the awful fielding, the South African bowling today was spot-on. Finally some control and patience. Just a shame it was all too late.

Today really is an achetypical example of why reading scorecards just does not give you enough info to determine who bowled/batted well. Steyn picked up two top-order wickets and mopped-up the tail, Ntini took two tail-enders. Reading the scorecard, you'd rate Steyn's wickets higher but, in reality, Ntini was easily the bowler of the day and just very, very unlucky.

Their batting has been the really big problem this series, though. The deck looks a little spongy. Will be very interested to see how they bat on it.

AWTA, Ntini was absolutely world-class today and should have had a few top order wickets too.

I hope for South Africa's sake that this signals a return to form. He's still needed for the next year or two by the SAffies, particularly with M Morkel out of form.

It's a shame they don't play another Test until November. Basically his form in this match will count for nothing when the selectors need to think of a squad next.

Even if Imraan does relative well in this match, he'll make way for Smith when he comes back. Prince looks like he has a point to prove.

Nice.

Prince looks in the mood. Nice to have him back and an opener willing to play a few positive shots. :)

Not really taken by Khan, credit to him his still there but hangs the bat out and looked a wee bit iffy against the leggie. Nice on the eye though when the bowlers drift into his pads. Shades of Amla.

You forgot to mention the fact that he got hit for 6 second ball, pretty sure Prince picked that one. ;)

Prince going along nicely, 37 off 36 balls, doing a good job supporting the debutant. South Africa well on top.
