Sure different formats require adjustments in techniques but the gulf between SA's batting in odis v tests is something to ponder. Klassen could hardly crack the test team out here and they were garbage. Yet he tells Stokes to hold his beer with this innings. And his fc ave is pretty good too. makes you wonder what happens when they play tests.

I don't know the guy from a bar of soap but there's generally a very big difference between belting second(ish) string attacks with a straight-up-and-down white ball on ODI roads and succeeding in Test matches against world-class bowling with swing and a little help in the wicket

Head injury could be all Marnus needs to cement a spot for the WC

wonder who will open with Warner, could be anyone tbh. Marsh, Carey, Smith, Marnus

Had a shocking series here after being so good in the T20s hasn't he
Yeah it's been pretty putrid. I wouldn't have him in if head is fit, hopefully we go with something like
1.Warner
2.Marsh/head
3.Smith
4.Marnus
5.Green
6.Carey
7.Maxwell

I'm still not 100% sold on marnus, either. Needs runs in that india series to show he can actually perform in the SC.

Green as well, tbf.

I guess something like this?

Warner
Green
Marsh
Smith
Carey
Stoinis
Maxwell/replacement
Starc
Cummins
Zampa
Hazlewood
Could definitely work/ I'm just not a fan of picking stoinis given his form, don't like moving smith around either given his batting record at 3 and in all other spots. Has better numbers than kane/root at 3 but has marnus esque numbers at 4.

David getting a 4th straight game. Him playing more games than inglis this series, who's actually a backup in the WC squad, kinda worries me. Only reason I can see david getting so much gametime in this #7 role so close to a WC is if their seriously worried about maxwell's fitness.

ISTG every over green has bowled this series he's followed the same "Full first ball, drag the length ball second ball" routine and ended up overpitching and getting him for 4 first ball as a result. It's uncanny.

He's such a good prospect
