These last two innings have REALLY complicated things for the WC unless marnus shits the bed in india beforehand. Honestly think marsh may not play if he can't bowl. Why there batting marsh at 3 in this series when he should never bat there at the actual WC is still beyond me, he should have been coming in at 5 with Inglis at 3. Inglis spent last domestic season opening for WA in this format and isn't as important to the make-up of the side.

Labuschagne has shown he can be great ODI player despite all the doubters. he deserves to be in 1st XI team if keeps up his form.

complicated things by maybe saving them from a mistake. don't need 4 all-rounders in the squad. get rid of whichever one of Green/Marsh/Stonis you want to get rid. replace them with a batter, which obviously would now be Marnus.

Tim David is a fraud

I have long been convinced of this. He seems to keep on getting franchise gigs around the world and yet I can't remember seeing him ever doing anything of note.

I mean you could simply look at his stats from the IPL, CPL, BBL the past 2 seasons, the most recent hundred, the PSL, or the blast to see why he gets franchise gigs. He gets paid cause he's consistently been one of, if not, the best franchise middle order bat in the world for years now.

Completely agree. Just a bit pissed off by the idea that he hasn't earn't any of his chances. There's a reason that he's playing for AUS and not Singapore, and that every franchise team in the world wants him

Mike Hussey’s rule of thumb for an elite T20 batsman is a combined strike rate and average > 170

Warner is 177 and has earned millions

David is 194

He’s one of the greats in that format

My only question about him in 50 overs stuff is what happens when he comes in at 4 for nothing with 40 overs remaining as he doesn’t train for that situation

Also before we start calling Marnus a good ODI player, consider maybe he's just great against South Africa. He averages 88 v South Africa and 29 against everyone else

The above is only true for about <10% of his T20 record when he played internationals for Singapore. The rest has been in the same leagues everyone else plays. His record for Australia is decent, strikes at 170+ and averages 25.

Wouldn't call him an ATG in the format, but he's pretty good for his role.

Those T20 tournaments aren't high quality. He's a good basher of mediocre bowling. He can be better than Kohli, Buttler etc. at that and not be up to the task against good international bowlers. Lynn is in the same basket as David btw

David averages 24 at a s/r of 173 for Australia which is elite FOR HIS POSITION IN T20s & that’s why he’s paid the big bucks

Nah. If you want him in a World Cup squad he's going to be facing the best bowlers. David would get eaten alive by attacks the likes of Bumrah/Shami/Jadeja/Axar. If we're playing minnows or second string sides sure throw him in to pump his stats but if we want to win a World Cup, he isn't it

T20 is a very different game
