There's quite a bit about Smith's captaincy that I'm highly critical of, but one thing I do very much appreciate is that he's inculcated a vastly better batting mindset in the team. Under Clarke, we'd probably be 2/40 or something like that already.

Warner has been surprisingly resilient from at least the Ashes, yeah.

Agree with BJ.There has been about 4 inside edges on to pad for a short leg chance.

Slow seamers are perfect for that.

Stupid 11 o`clock meetings..... how dare they make me miss the cricket. Hoping to come back to watch the 4 wickets highlights!

SBW masks pretty funny but also really crass. SA fans really toeing the line with that one.
The odd thing is that no one outside of Sydney and South Auckland knew who he was when it happened as he was still a league player then. Now he is one of the better known union players and seems to be serious about Islam and is friends with Amla and Tahir.

Brilliant first hour.

Bancroft and Warner winning.

SA haven't been bad but probably could have risked being driven more.

Hugely impressive from Australia. Their change in mindset since the start of that India tour has been amazing, and honestly a bit scary to watch.

Won’t be long until the spinner is on. South African quicks have wasted the new ball so far this series and done the exact opposite of what the Australians do - make you play upfront and then pull it back.

Yeah while Clarke is a far better tactician and seemed to be better in keeping his emotions in check, Smith's side seem to be a lot more adaptable and understand that you can't just play one way. Since the Hobart debacle two years ago I think we've been the best team in the world, and it's all come down to understanding that batting requires different skillsets depending on the condition.
