The state of South African cricket is really depressing. They stink worse than a pile of my **** and that's in every format. You can hold on to their two wins over India but let's be honest, they got lucky in both games - nobody would pick them to even win a game if they played a test series now.

jfc how did Big Vern let them get 2 there. This is not great to watch. SA look like they've given up, even the ever impressive Maharaj is bowling a lot of rubbish.

I picked a **** night to actually be able to watch this thing

South Africa's best hope is that Australia bat for a long time and Smith doesn't declare until at least day 4. There is a decent chance of rain messing up day 5 so under that scenario they might be able to salvage a very undeserving draw.

Christ, didn’t realize Rabada already has 3 10fa’s after 27 caps. McG with 3 and Marshal with 4, they had to share with other greats but that’s still pretty impressive.

Rabada's shared with Big Vern and Steyn and co. though

An interesting stat

Seriously impressive from Rabada. Murali the real benchmark, though, with 22

Davey taking notice of criticism of him for always making 2nd innings downhill skiing tons so throwing his wicket away to make people rate him higher.

makes sense if you think about it

Nah there's no chance of a win for SA here. Even knocking over Aus for sub 100 would still not be enough. The lack of intensity is worrying though, they have to make Aus earn the win from here.

I would seriously consider ending Morkel's retirement early. Been a great servant but to win I reckon Ngidi for PE and Steyn back in for Newlands hopefully.

This is going to be torterous but it has been done before in Durban. The pitch doesn't deteriorate as much as expected and its just slow. Then good old Durbs light and blockathon like Daemon says is SA's best case scenario.

This is my personal gripe with announcing a retirement before a series has even started. Will it be harder to drop him now? I actually think so.
