'Quality from Australia.

Pathetic from South Africa.

Time to start the demise of SA thread. Tough question to answer if there will be a phoenix re-born from the ashes.

22 poles @ < 25, didn't go wicketless once and was crocked by the end. What more could he have done exactly?
I mean, my criticism of the tactics against the tail has been oft repeated. Especially given what happened there just now.

Australia are overwhelming at the moment. They play exciting cricket spiked with skill and attitude. Come to think of it, that's been the norm for as long as I remember ('since 87).

SA cricket is in danger of becoming completely innocuous. Even if they suddenly begin posting respectable scores in this series, there still is no young batsman that inspires hope for the future. For the sake of their own consciences, I hope Faf, ABdV, and Amla space out their retirements at intervals of an year at least.

Just like the Ashes, Starc’s worst spells with are with the new ball. Bowling with the older ball just seems to concentrate his mind on bowling plans which he can carry out superbly well.

Have to go back to 1993/94 for the last time in a SA/Oz Test in SA that SA managed a 1st innings lead in the opening Test.

MMarsh deciding to be good is massive for Aus given he is only 26. Get Renshaw in and this is ok team

Only when we lose to NZ..... not quite there yet. As disappointing as today has been still not my worst as a SA cricket supporter....

Who'll bring down the beast? It was up to you Proteas as England haven't got the tools and you've screwed it up!!

Nah, early days even if this test has gone.

MMarsh has impressed recently and continued to do so even though his dismissal was a bit amusing. Starc unplayable at the end there, not sure there was much S.A could have done about that, they don't have 11 AB's and sadly aside from AB and Amla their batting quality isn't great.

Starc ruined what was an engrossing back and forth tussle. What a dick.

and thank **** RSA passed the follow-on. I couldn't have taken those discussions so early in the series.

Granted we have a decent attack but not anywhere near as good as Aus but still, if anyone doesn't see why it wasn't a missed opportunity to win a test series in Saf for us they never will.

People keep saying that but was it really that bad from SA? Seems like it was more so just good bowling than terrible batting. It's not like they were all caught at long on.
You would expect test quality batsman to show some application and fight and except for abd none did.
