***Official*** Australia in South Africa 2018

State Captain
Maybe AUS were this weak somewhere around 2009/2010? Or about 2/3 years ago?

Is this side worse than the team they would have fielded if there were no bans

Nah. There were sides in the WSC era with Graeme Wood, Rick Darling, Graeme Beard et al. Some in the mid 80s had Gilbert, Wood, Welham, C Matthews, Hilditch in them too.
The side with Doherty/Beer, a past it Ponting, spraying Mitch and Hilfenhaus in was pretty rubbish.

The bowling has been disciplined till now; but they need to get a wicket fast. Or they will start to wilt.
Lyon, where are you?

Warne laying into Sayers... been really predictable and just avg speeds of 125 or thereabout. From what I have seen so far he is more in the Vinay Kumar mould than Philander.

Hopefully I am proven wrong.

I don't dislike Warne's opinion when it comes to bowling lineups. If Richardson was going to get selected ahead of Sayers, I would definitely have said the most likely scenario was a Starc injury. Still, don't mind there being a pecking order and next in line gets an opportunity.

I think I would've been more inclined to pick Richardson over Sayers if Cummins was out than if Starc was.

Done very well in building a new side quite quickly, yes another top class bat is needed for the middle order but a decent job has been done considering Smith, Kallis, Steyn and now Morkel are gone and the side is still looking strong bar the odd blip like the England tour.

Yeah actually I can see that too.

I kind of like Richardson's upside but I think Sayers was the right option here. Random thought but I think Renshaw gets a bowl today.
