Yea Lyon hasn't mixed it up, hasn't tried to set the batters up, has just kept plugging away on a length hoping something happens. Swepson's tried things but has bowled too much crap.

Would be a different game if the LBWs went their way
I think the bigger factor were the drops. Had even one of the two drops been taken Pakistan probably would've collapsed. To say nothing of the Smith drop.

Whatever it takes!!!
Rizwan seems immune to getting out this dig, and he’s tried to quite a few times tbf.

Played some cracking shots in between though.
There was a passage of play when Babar should have been out like 5 times in about 3 overs of cricket too. Weird game.

But flat as pancake pitch, has to be said. Pak had to do their usual glorious pendulum swing between inept and excellent for this game to even have this much interest on the last day.

I think a lot of the talk about Lyon failing to bowl Australia to victory on Day 5 in the chances he's got totally ignored the fact that he wasn't getting any more out of those pitches than he was on Day 1 because #straya. It was stupidly harsh and dogmatic in terms of what of his role should be.

Here though: massive turn, massive fail. Criticism very valid, even though (or even especially because?) he hasn't exactly lost the plot and bowled a stack of pies.

It's Lyon's biggest flaw. He just refuses to bowl anything he's not comfortable with. That isn't a problem 8 times out of 10 but it does go to show why he struggles to dismiss batsmen set on defence.

lyon is pretty good at massively outperforming touring spinners in australia anyway, which is what matters in context.

pakistan need to do most of the work now before the mitchell starc yorkers, especially if they leave an end open.

This is fair, I think if Pakistan play properly we all would've been grumbling Rawalpindi style (though this deck isn't quite as flat)

I don't mind these conditions, as long as it's just part of the stack and not all the time. There's been serious (if slow) turn for two days and there's been reverse throughout. I think the first Test should probably be a 'never ever', but this to me is acceptable in terms of the 'yeah that was the flat one' of the season.

odds on swepson getting punted for the limited agar unless he crashes pakistani poles in the next hour?
Hard to say. Though I'd argue in places like Sri Lanka and India Agar might add more, especially if we see the decks there we've seen for the last couple of years.

Cummins certainly not over bowling Starc here. Owes him a big spell with the new ball.
It's interesting to see if they take the new ball or not, pending on the position it could be dangerous as more runs may flow.
This is panning out to be very exciting indeed, bet Australia wished now that they'd enforced the follow on.

Yeah if it's a spitting turner Agar definitely adds more. Swepson absolutely the better pick for this surface though, even though he's probably just about to take 0/150 on Day 5.
