I clever use of some sandpaper in the pocket....

All joking aside it's odd how Starc magically finds reverse swing again since the return of Smith and Warner.

I know this is a political tour and no one wants to rock the boat but the PCB needs to review this.
The pitch is currently rated at P40, there's no need for sandpaper in the pocket.

The ball ignores “ignore air resistance”

Looks like there will be a result. Which sucks. Would like the score line to be 0-0 so that neither team has anything to celebrate

Looks like a replay of the 2nd test coming up, where Pakistan will be battling to survive on day 5 to force a draw.
One can't help but think this time around it will be much more difficult to achieve that result.

Whatever it takes!!!
Conditions definitely more favorable to reverse swing but I dont think Pak will lollapse again. Still expecting a draw because outside of the reverse and some balls keeping low (rather than shooting low) it is still a pitch where survival seems possible, though quick scoring is definitely not very sustainable.

Estraya in a good position. Not as good as the position they got themselves into last week but still, as Larry David would say, pretty good.

Bat till lunch normally I guess so the lead would pass 200. Ideally they would want to declare half and hour before tea but run making is difficult so I'd say drinks on 3rd session is the most realistic target. I would also like Warner to really go for it hard. If it comes off, it'll be a huge bonus

Weirdly, because I don't think he bowled particularly well and lacks a lot of initiative and variation in general, Lyon's spell was really important yesterday. Bowled nearly 40 overs at a reasonable economy rate which made sure Starc and Cummins weren't over bowled. Pakistan missed a real trick not going after him harder and forcing a change.

Yeah this was a very typical "Lyon 1st innings at home" bowling effort, which is perfectly fine on Australian pitches because of how much pressure it puts on the opposition batsmen to find alternative scoring options. But you don't expect that on a pitch which is definitely doing a bit, albeit slowly.

Yeah I'd really have liked him to take some pace off the ball and mix it up a bit more, but at the end of the day he's a finger spinner and they are a genetically limited species.

Haha this is a pretty convoluted way of saying they should have hit him back over his head for six.

Calling Lyon genetically limited is an understatement
