Had a slow start to the year for FC. Did great in the List A - so good I thought he might get called up instead of Stewart. If he keeps this up he will be in the team for next year for sure.

For reasons that I don't understand he didn't do well on the NZ A tour.

Too much cricket maybe.

WHEN he does make the test team and IF he turns out to be a good international player it will be a major boost to the team - and will give us three players in the top order - Ryder Taylor and Williamson who can score runs.

Agreed that the toss can be important in some games, but don't think it'd have mattered one iota to the result of this series. All the pitches have played reasonably true & it's been NZ's complete inability to bat for any period of time that's lost it for them, nothing to do with the toss.

Pig was being interviewed once about why nz is weak at test cricket. And he started to give this really interesting answer and then he cut himself off.
"Test cricket is more of a back foot game - and New Zealanders are better off the front foot the other thing is - actually I am getting too technical - we need to bat for longer periods of time."

I was into his answer and wanted him to keep going.

I must concede, I've bagged Hopkin's selection in the past, but he's actually looked as good as any of NZ's batsmen in this one-day series
