Southee is bowling wellish at the moment.

You are right I don't think it is a plan by Martin. Just poor bowling.

Still dont get Patel's selection tbh, all he seems to have going for him at the highest level seems to be the slow full toss. If Tuffey wasnt going to play, and if Franklin was brought into the squad then he ought to have been selected at 8.

Feel sorry for Ingram. One run out and one poor shot shouldn't be enought to get dropped, even with technique like his. If the selectors were that concerned about his footwork they never should've picked him in the first place. And to replace him with a guy who hasn't even batted at number 3 for the past few seasons...Haven't been at all impressed with the selectors in the last week. Poor stuff all round.

As much as I enjoy seeing Skippy back in there, I agree with you.

What if Skippy fails here, we drop him and go to someone else again? The merry-go-round continues from the NZ selectors....

He did look remarkably awful in that 2nd innings though & clearly not up to Test level against an attack as good as Australia's. Surely they selected him in first place based on runs at FC level, despite the fact they could see he didn't move his feet. Presumably they figured he may be one of the few players (like Sehwag) who could make it at Test level without foot movement, but clearly in hindsight they've realized he's no where near test standard.

Next test series is Bangladesh, so they can play Williamson. Should have played him this test tbh. Vettori already on...

two tests isn't enough of a chance to prove you're test standard.

Apart from the luckiest century ever, what did McIntosh ever do to prove he's test standard in his first zillion chances?

Replacing Ingram with Sinclair is ironic. Is Sinclair going to become a test batsman this time?:p

Exactly. Besides, Ingram had looked pretty solid in the first innings until he was spectacularly shafted by McIntosh.

I probably didn't make my point clear in that previous post, I was meaning despite the few opportunities, he looked so out-of-sorts & clearly below test standard, I don't think the selectors had much choice

Interesting, I didn't think he did look solid at all in the 32 balls he faced in that 1st innings & then looked totally woeful in the 2nd

He's hardly the first to be made to look a joke by Australia.

I just want to see some consistency from selectors. Neil Broom is allowed to miss straight delivery after straight delivery in ODI yet Ingram gets made to look like a douche a couple of times and gets dropped. On top of it he's replaced by a guy that doesn't move his feet either and has no idea where his off stump is early in his innings.

Wtf?

Lol, you won't get any argument from me about how ridiculous the continual selecting of Broom in the ODI side was
