I haven't been able to stand him for about a decade, but then yesterday he said he didn't want a new flag and took a shot at John Key, and ever since a serene peacefulness and joy has overcome me. All hail Smithy!!!
I'd wager that won't last much more than another 1-2 commentary stints.

You think Siddle and Starc are better test bowlers than Hazlewood? Christ.
Starc = #1 in the world. Siddle = #1 unluckiest by selectors in the world. Hazelwood = Lucky to be selected this summer but has performed amazingly well. I still don't think he's as good as Patto or Starc. And I pick Siddle ahead of him because I like Siddle as a first change option. Hazelwood is an opener.

I don't know whats been more dire in this Test, most of New Zealand's players or most of the New Zealand posters.

other than being completely wrong, I don't see anything else really wrong with this post.

You're entitled to your opinion, carry on.

Surely Australia go Starc, Patto, Haze, Lyon when all are fit? I'll admit Siddle will be unlucky to be dropped (again) but that's their best attack.

Feel most NZ posters have copped it pretty well tbh, much more resilient and gracious bunch than NZ CW'rians of years gone by. Circa 2006 in particular.

That would require Hazelwood to ultimately be the work horse and be able to bowl long spells while Starc and Patto rested.

Do you expect Hazelwood and Marsh to shoulder 35-40 overs per day between them burden while Starc/Patto bowl the 24-30 between them that they're best off bowling? With Lyon picking up the remaining 20-30?

Yes this is quite rightfully what will happen. There will probably be plenty of occasions one of those guys is injured between now and the end of Siddle's career anyway though. Being the fourth best Test seamer for a team will still get you a fair amount of game-time in most teams these days.

Starc is the best limited overs bowler in the world for mine but he's got a pretty long way to go in tests. High potential ceiling for sure but lacks consistency compared to... well quite a few test bowlers really. The home series against NZ pre-injury is the best I've ever seen him bowl in tests so I think there's some evidence he's getting there, but can't see at all how he's better than someone like Stuart Broad or Hazlewood based just on potential. He's never really produced for any sort of sustained period in test cricket.

Pattinson is a must if fit moving forward for Australia. He's one guy I can envisage starring in an Ashes series. If he is ever ordinary, it's rare that it's in both innings

Siddle has either pulled up crocked mid-test or been ruled out of the last 6 tests

Good bowler but not exactly a reliable option atm
