Nice to know the Basin Reserve has a section specifically for holier-than-thou ****s. I'll remind myself to stay out of it when I visit.
Haha. As self-appointed custodian of the "Sol Bar" and the Basin Reserve, your attempts to tar an unfortunate ground and besmirch its good name are not welcome, m'laddo.

If I don't want to stand for him I won't. If I had've been there to see that absolutely filthy Harbhajan Singh century against us 3 seasons ago I certainly wouldn't have stood for him either. Terrible display of cross batted hoiks. Quite possibly the worst century of all time.

Like I also said NO ONE in my area stood for Voges.
Well then don't complain if Australia don't tour very often and only for two tests when they do. Barbaric behaviour.

I'll definitely still visit; just not the section where people like Hurricane sit. Must be awful watching a game with people like that around you. Plenty of other great NZ fans, would much rather sit with them.

So I'm of the opinion that going out of your way to spite an oppo bat's hundred is a **** move, but this is just funny.

It's an outrage, I tell you! An outrage!

I guess you have a point. However it was most infuriating when it happened. And if that means that some of the anger gets transferred on to Don Voges and his innings gets labeled as a fluke then so be it.
I am not arguing (I don't think I am) that his inning was useless. Or that it wasn't good. His concentration and discipline were admirable as was the way he paced his inning.

But certainly there was a HUGE elment of luck behind him tonning up
.
There always is. Usually more so than this innings.

at least they're consistent. im reliably informed a section of crowd at the westpac odi flip flopped between positive reinforcement for warner (playing on the haddin "can't handle their niceness" thing) and reminding him that he likes to play with himself.

You'll be please to know that the ABC's NZ correspondent (an Aussie) declared it to be the most beautiful ground in the world today.

Reckon it's hard to go past Queenstown myself

I didn't do it to spite him. I just didn't feel standing was warranted for his workman like effort. I jumped to my feet for Usman because it was pure unadulterated class.

I just have standards for who out of the opposition I will stand for. Naturally being a one eyed Kiwi fan I will stand for any century by my own team.

I am pretty sure I didn't stand when JP Duminy scored a century against us when SA toured. It was just a century. In both innings when then got to about 30 runs and nothing was beating the bat you knew they were going to ton up. Nothing appealed to me about the Duminy innings and nothing appealed to me about this inning (that isn't quite true - like I said I admired Voges' concentration powers and how he paced his inning).

...The way you posted that doesn't even make it sound like Khawaja's innings deserved an above-average reaction; you clearly make it sound like Voges' innings deserved a less-than-average reaction. That's such a bitter thing to do. So what if the umpire messed up last night. That's not Voges' fault. You deciding that he deserves less appreciation for a good innings on account of someone else's mistake is just so childish.
Bitter, yes. What you may not realise ***** is that the "luck" of bad umpiring decisions in match-turning or match-saving situations has run strongly the Aussie way in the history of NZ-Aust test matches (apart from once, when Dipak Patel took a couple of "wickets" in a game that Aust may have been able to save). DRS hasn't made it much better.
