Great bowling by the Australians thus far, everyone picking up at least 1 wicket except Johnson! Exactly what Australia needs at the moment.
Krejza, whilst going for a lot of runs, has been going well, picking up 3 wickets in 11 overs. Nice work. He has impressed me the most.
Bollinger has also been impressive. Letting less than a run an over away is outstanding, even if it is against a club team. Picking up 3 wickets as well pushes his case further forward on the table.
But with these recent performances, I feel the need to change our line up, because some new players are performing. I feel Katich has to be in there somewhere. I feel the same about Krejza, because he is just one of those players who I think is going to be sucessful. Flights the ball up well, gets some spin, and I think he would be suited to the Indian conditions. Jaques has to be there, he has not done anything wrong, I don't honestly know how you can be calling for his head, even if it is for Katich. He has been batting really solid in the past season, and has been having runs flowing off his bat. Keep him there.
So at the moment our line up is looking like this, if you include my changes:
1. Hayden
2. Jaques
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Katich/Watson
7. Haddin
8. Lee
9. Krejza/McGain
10. Clark
11. Bollinger/Siddle
Where I put a slash, I put my preferred person first. Whilst McGain is playing better, I don't think he is going to influence the chance of victory, or do anything for our spin stocks in the future. We need to blood youngsters, which we have done, through Krejza (or we may do), Casson and Cullen. You could also chuck Hauritz in there as well if you like.
I think Katich over Watson for numerous reasons:
1 - Rebuilds the innings is we have a collapse
2 - Will definitely score more runs
3 - Adds spin, which in Symonds absence, we will need. Not to mention the Indian conditions favour spin
4 - Less chance of sustaining an injury
5 - Been in much better form in the longer form of the game
For mine, that selection is a no brainer. If I had a say, that would be my line up, but in the end, it all comes down to Andrew Hilditch and his team.
They couldn't possibly considering Krejza over McGain.
Great to see Johnson struggle - hopefully Dougie might get a gig.
I have not seen Krejza at all, but I agree with your post completely. Remember the days when he couldn't even make the New South Wales line up? For him, moving to Victoria was easily the best thing he has done, career wise of course.
By the way, if his first class career stats are anything to go by, he is not all he is hyped up to be.
23 matches, 43 wickets at 45.46, with an economy of 3.69. But it does say in his profile that he gets some good loop on the ball and extracts some decent turn, and that excites me in an off spinner.
