He's the best player against spin in the world currently. And yet he's being labelled a flat track bully. The day people stop thinking of pace as the be all and end all of bowling is the day I start caring about their opinion of him.
Pfft. He's not even the best player against spin in the Indian batting lineup.

Over the past year, he's comfortably been the best against spin in the world. Unlike the rest, he wasn't crapping his pants at the sight of Mendis and Murali.

AWTA. Flat track is always conveniently equated with spinning tracks, until they get one, in which case the pitch is demonised.

Don't understand the apprehension among many on here in labelling Gambhir a class act on all tracks. He's definitely up there as one of the most improved bats in the world over the last year. Can play all the shots and doesn't struggle agains high quality pace and swing as much as he used to. Will be a MASSIVE loss if banned for the Nagpur test.

Who was that person at the start of the series saying Gambhir and Sehwag will be India's best ever opening partnership? Oh yeah that's right it was me.

Gambhir will do in difficult conditions, he's class.

Gambhir rocks and compliments Sehwag well. He has two 100s already in the series!!!! .... it's not surprising that one of these two have been the top run getters for India in the past 2-3 series .... they have changed the way the Indian opening used to work when openers were merely there to see off the new ball and set it up for the middle order. now most of the runs are coming from the top of the order and credit for that goes to how Sehwag and Gambhir play

and it won't surprise me if ppl who write off one of these two guys will blow the bugle of players like Jaffar *yawn* .... it's amusing that some ppl don't appreciate new players coming up. its like, for them, runs should always come from Dravid and Laxmans of the world and if they don't then the pitch must be easy, the bowling crap 8-) .... and it doesn't stop here, when these two guys get runs they will break it down into Ist inning and 2nd innings runs

No no. He got out to M&M five times. Sehwag got out to them only once. And scored a bat-carrying 201*.

whats getting out got to do with crapping out? isn't it obvious that with spinners bowling a lot on a helpful track, one is more likely to get out to them!!!!

How many did he score before getting out to them?
Less than Sehwag. Gambhir also scored more heavily off the pacemen (because Sehwag got out to them more often) and less heavily off the spinners. Go ball-by-ball if you like. Sehwag>Gambhir against Murali and Mendis in that tour.

Naa, he was destined to get out to one or the other, since they were the only ones bowling close to 80% of the overs once the ball got old.
The longest Gambhir lasted in the whole series was 42 overs. A lot of fifties, no hundreds. Why? He kept getting in against the seamers and then out to the spinners.

you could have put that in a better way like "the spinners, who got most batsmen out on that tour" :p

Yup. But crucially, not Sehwag. He got out to Murali once and Mendis not at all. And scored more runs than anyone else.
