Yep thats the line up I want to see. White can't be picked as an all rounder, if he wants to play test cricket again either start bowling a hell of a lot more for Victoria or just concentrate on his batting (which he has probably been doing anyway).

Krezja should be given a chance, we need an aussie spinner to step up and take this spot in the team. By not bowling defensively, and giving it some flight and trying to get as much turn as possible. Who cares if there are some loose deliveries in each over, we have to look to the future.
The good news is that Lee finally seems to be getting it together, Clark is due for some luck, Johnson has the happy knack of taking wickets and unless the Oz batsmen have another brain explosion, I simply cant see the Indian attack being that penetrative with Hayden running into form

Unfortunately, we're 1-0 down, we simply have to take 20 wickets and the current lineup hasnt shown that it is capable of doing so

That being the case, give Krezja and possibly Bollinger a go (at the expense of White and Clark) and see what happens

No i will say the aussie bowlers failed to drive home the advantage given by there batsmen at bangalore.you have to remeber it was the last 4 wickets that scored runs for india in the first inngs which have to be termed as failrue of the bowling side
It's been the same for 18 months

I'm picking Aussie to go into this Test with a must win attitude. This will cause them to become over-aggressive and sometimes reckless, eventually crashing to a 150 run defeat with 2 sessions to go on the last day.

That's a big call considering you don't even who will win the toss yet.

Anil Kumble announced his retirement after the third Test against Australia so the question is " Is it the injury or the announcement of the skipper Ganguly retireing for Kumble's decision to retirer?"

Think the question is more of whether Kumble retired on his own terms or whether the selectors said they would drop him for the next test and gave him the option of going out on a high note and retiring, rather than getting dropped.

The little what have been heard so far about the Nagpur pitch says it will be the best batting track of the series
Tbh, would be really surprised if it turned out to be anything less then a batting paradise, but its a newly laid wicket and so it may just show signs of unevenness, anyways going into the 4th test toss is really going to be crucial, if Australia can win the toss and post a big score in the first innings, then they hold the best chance of winning the game, as its clear to see that whichever team has won the toss so far in the series has gone onto dominate and call the shots for most part of the game.

Apparently Laxman had been informed of Kumble's decision to retire earlier than most. Him rolling his arm over after getting to his batting milestones were his way of dedicating his innings' to Kumble.

That would purely be speculation, yeah its the BCCI we are taking about but still one can't really say for sure that the players are being forced to retire, in Kumble' case the time had clearly come for him to hang his boots as the signs were there for everybody to see for sometime now, but in Ganguly' case i can't say the same thing, one has to agree Ganguly has been treated harshly by the selectors despite him performing as well as he did, and that is one of the prime reasons he is retiring at this point of time.

If you noticed, it was Tendulkar who took Kumble's cap from him and gave it to umpire before he started his last over. It is a tradition followed since the Delhi Test of 1999, when Tendulkar by chance took Kumble's sweater and gave it to the umpire and Kumble immediately took a wicket. Being the superstitious creature he is, Tendulkar continued doing that every over and Kumble took all 10 wickets!

So i guess then Kumble should have been wearing his sweater in this test too....

For mine, Ponting has made the mistake of employing the tactics of 2004 to win this Series. In 2004, we set defensive fields, kept the lid on the run rate and were very patient. The difference back then was that we had the bowlers who were capable of containment (Warne's role, for instance, was massively understated in this regard) and we had the bowlers to create enough chances even though the fields were defensive. By contrast, when Ponting has employed the same tactics this Series, the bowlers have still gone for plenty while they have been unable (with defensive fields) to create enough chances. Hopefully, given this Test is a must win, Ponting will not revert to defensive fields (and the bowlers won't revert to defensive lines) quite so quickly.

Not keeping up with the cricket all that much these days (busy with my Masters thesis). But can someone confirm that Gambhir has been banned for the 4th test (because of 'the elbow' incident)? And if he has, what kind of punishment did Watson get?
