Found this little story about Sehwag in an article by Warne, thaught it was really funny.

Off the field, I find him to be a really funny guy. Jeremy Snape told me a great story about him while we were working together in the Indian Premier League. Sehwag and Snape were batting for Leicestershire against Middlesex when Abdul Razzaq started reverse swinging the ball in the way that the Pakistan bowlers do.

Sehwag came up to Snape and said: “We must lose this ball. I have a plan.” Next over, he whacked that ball clean out of the ground, forcing the umpires to pick another from the box that would obviously not reverse straight away. To which Sehwag said: “We are all right for one hour.” Smart, I say.

Hehe sehwag is a gun i have to say he is a reallly sweet to watch. and he really wants to make a hundred at the kotla too so hopefully we can see some fire works though tbh i think australia will win this. kumbe captain had to be done cuz it would have caused a lot of animosity between the players if it wasnt, i think tendulkar said something about making kumble capt again, then i would have given india a greater hope of winning but kumble is just too predictable... i hope india win i really do... but i doubt it

Kumble is certain to return to the team, which means Amit Mishra, who made an outstanding debut in Mohali, or Harbhajan Singh will make way. Mishra would have sat out in normal circumstances, but a toe injury that Harbhajan sustained towards the end of the Mohali Test makes matters more uncertain, with a final decision expected only on the morning of the match.

Krezja had a terrible time in the tour game, and it's unlikely Australia will take a chance with him even in conditions expected to favour spin.

nothing surprising in those likely 11s

if I had to pick one spinner from the Indian trio then it would be Mishra. it would be nice to see him playing in the 11 at the cost of either of the other two. Mishra can set the game up in the Ist inning and someone like Kumble can be a force in the 2nd

on Kumble's bad form and why he shouldn't he be given more chances:
1. he is past his best and no longer one of the top two spinner in India
2. if he were 34, i would back him but not when he is 38 and will be hanging his boot any time
3. He is a good captain but India has a potentially better captain in waiting

those commentators who think that Kumble should be persisted with are missing those two points .... as a fan of Kumble, I wish he does well but when you have to depend upon a pitch and pull out his past stats on a ground to justify his place, you know that his days are over .... anyways, still wishing the great match-winner to come up with another match-winning performance

and Dravid shouldn't be anywhere around the Indian team, even though he comes up with 30s-40s every now and then

hoping to see India go 2-0 up, esp if Mishra spins into action bowling in the Ist inning

they usually do that when new players come in and when old ones are past their best

if players were played on their past records only then a a 16 years old Tendulkar would not have gone to Pakistan and someone like Mohinder Amarnath would never have been dropped

the Q to ask is, of the three, who is good enough to get to the 100 test wickets first [playing on different surfaces] from now on. I would put my money on Mishra

I don't think that's fair to say. Kumble's been shockingly poor in tests for almost a year, and Mishra averaged 18 in FC cricket last season, was the IPL's best spinner and convincing enough for India A to leapfrog Chawla and Ojha as the third spinner for this series. Then, on debut, he takes the world's best batting lineup apart. In other words, Mishra's done pretty much everything it's been physically possible for him to do in order to make his case. Meanwhile, Kumble's struggled, bowling well, well below his best and averaging 50 this year.

Personally i'd keep Kumble for this particular ground and pitch, but the basis for including Mishra is a lot more than "one performance".

Oh, I agree he should be in the squad and he has deserved his spot if an injury/retirement/continued loss of form happens, but you can't discard someone with 600 wickets lightly unless you're pretty sure its a terminal downturn or that they simply don't contribute anymore.

But the problem is Kumble is averaging 50 from the SA series upto this point.I'm sure he would fully understand if he got the axe.He has no reason to complain..

Either way,his performance in this test should decide the matter(atleast to us viewers:laugh: )
