***Official Australia in India***

Would they have won without Dhoni?? I am not too sure. All his decisions were more or less spot on. And he led from the front. Batted as the game demanded in both innings. promoted himself in the second innings.
Can you tell me why he needed to do that ?

In fact, I'd go so far as to say Australia will not even score another run today, let alone go within a bull's roar of drawing the game.

I expect it to be over inside 3 overs
Effectively, if not literally, spot-on there. :p

& yes, obviously I speak from the safe vantage point of hindsight.

I'd back Eng to beat India in December - they have a much better bowling attack than either of the teams playing here
You being ironic there? I certainly wouldn't say a bowling attack who finds a spot for Stuart Broad on a regular basis was "much better".

I still think we'll get a result out of this series (1-1 most likely). I'm quite confident our batsmen won't fall over so pathetically again, and Clark coming back in to the side will be a huge boost (so long as it's for Siddle, and not Lee). I called it earlier, that Hayden won't have a (positive) impact on this series at all, his batting yesterday can only be described as irresponsible for one of the most experienced players in the team.
Not quite true: ****-witted, bone-headed, quixotic, hubristic....all would fit just as well too.

Aside from the first shot of his innings, what exactly did Hayden do wrong yesterday?

During his innings, he simply caned some poor and not so poor deliveries - the guy is a great player, that's what they do

As for his dismissal, it was a shot he's used to dominate Indian spinners for years and is one that he will play hundreds of times more before he retires

Unfortunately, he missed it and was, IMO, unlucky to be given out

Yeah unlucky since Australia didn't have any "hand of god" verdict going their way. Seriously mate, did you watch the match? Hayden was playing as if his life was on the line had he not maintained a 150+ SR. And the fact he tried the sweep off just the 2nd ball from Bhajji, without giving even a see at what bounce Bhajji was getting was atrocious.

Probably one of the most clinical and professional Indian performances I've ever witnessed in the entire time I've followed Indian Cricket. A proud moment for every Indian supporter and we outplayed Australia in every single department in this match. Dhoni must be appointed test captain after this series.

Flintoff, Harmison, Anderson, Sidebottom, Panesar, plus Jones to come in the next few months is easily the best attack in the world

AWTA, at least he didn't miss a straight one like Clapo's loverboy.

Jones as in Geraint? Coz the other Jones seem to be hampered by matches in between his injuries.

Flintoff and Sidey are the ones INdia got to really fear. Harmy suffers from tour-o-phobia and that could help us. Panesar will be handled like a doll, since we have already made our bones against Clarke and White.

yeah before this series Aussies were the best attack in the world..

Realistically one or two of those bowlers won't even last until the first ball is bowled. If an upset tummy won't do it then homesickness probably will.

Hmm. Not sure I share your optimism (in your appraisal or in Jonah's powers of recovery), but would be ecstatic to be proved wrong. :p

Wasn't it Sachin who took the final catch? Cricinfo says it's Sehwag. My 30-hr vigil without sleep might be making me hallucinate then.

Aside from ball 1, did he hit a ball in the air?

No

His strike rate was 150 because he kept hitting proper cricket shots for runs

As for the sweep, firstly the guy has scored well over a thousand runs in his career from it

Secondly, so if he played a forward defensive and got out (which he would have done as there wouldnt have been any change in his footwork), you'd be happy?

Sorry, but that makes no sense whatsoever

It was Sachin who took the final catch. So impressed with how much enthusiasm he's displayed on the field. It's great to see that he's loving every moment of it out there.
