When we were lost those 3 wickets in 25 minutes I thought we'd struggle to make 350. Very happy to be at 400 for 5 and Sharma. Lots of credit has to go to Sachin, Ganguly and Dhoni for getting us out of the hole. Makes a bit of a mockery of Mark Waugh's criticisms about how selfish Ganguly is.

That one had a lot more variable bounce pretty much from day 1-2.
Indeed. It was hard to legitimately take wickets on, but it wasn't as easy to score freely on as this one is - it was slower and didn't really come on at all, plus the bounce was inconsistent as you said.

A very good session for India. 401-5 was a dream when they were 160-4. Over rates marginally improve to exact 13. But still would need Clarke or White bowling at one end for atleast an hour to take it to the required rate.

India comfortably on top here. Dhoni and Ganguly are looking solid and there is plenty of batting to go with Mishra, Bhaji and even Zaheer, who showed us last test that he can hold a bat. Here's hoping Siddle can wrap up the tail and get a 5 for on debut.

We get the point you think they need to hurry up, but I don't see why it's necessary to bring up the point every 30 minutes.

Yeah, there are a lot more important things to worry about than the over rate. Some people are carrying on as if it's the determining factor in the match.

Should note, that I don't disgree that captains do need to make sure the game keeps moving along, but as PEWS said, there's a lot more important things to worry about in this match (and the previous) than the over rate.

Oh, now telling me what to post? As if Ponting had done exceptionally well as captain not to worry about the over rates.

I am no way putting across any slander, or wilful bashing of one team. Over rates are very much important in the modern game, otherwise why should there exist penalty?

My god I love Ganguly. Seriously want to go out there and boof him when he finishes this innings [/copycat]

With his batting in the last two tests, Ganguly has made it tough for the youngsters who might take his spot. Of course, our electronic media will go their oafish way but Ganguly has made sure that not only is he missed but India regrets his retirement at least in the immediate future.

I still think it is the right time to go for him and the fact that he has scored so well in these two games is good for it allows him to go out with his head held as high as possible. But his batting as well as that of Sachin in the last two innings shows the folly of asking all the seniors to quit.

Thank God we have just five selectors ....... officially.

Agreed. This is the right time to go, but it is great that he is going out with some good scores.
In all my time of watching cricket, ie since 1991, I have never seen an Indian player retire gracefully. Ganguly deserves kudos for retiring in this series - against the best team in the world.
