*Official* Australia in India - ODIs

Yes, Paine has been an opener all his career, good for him. But your next bit is just a lie. Marsh opened the batting often in the Ford Ranger Cup the season before the IPL, indeed he made a century there in the third last match.
Well didn't knew about that, but still there is no denying he started of as lower middle order batsman.

In List-A Cricket, as a middle-lower order batsman, he has made 820 runs @ 27.38. As an opening batsman or number three, he has 1056 runs @ 39.41.

There's no doubt for mine that as a top-order player, he has a lot to offer, and has proven himself at doing it.

Cannot believe Australia chose to field. What a poor decision! This Australia team is making few very stupid decisions in the last few months.

Well played India! It should be a very good series.

Merv Hughes did say he doesn't have pay TV so he can't watch any of the games on Fox sports.

That's as hilarious as it is sad and ridiculous. Of all the stupid little things CA must pay for, you'd think they could buy the selectors Foxtel subscriptions FFS. How moronic.

Great show from India. Especially happy about Dhoni, Ishant, Gambhir and Raina. I could only stay awake till around the 25th over and Dhoni and Gambhir were playing pretty intelligent cricket. Ishant has also looked good. Australian attack without Lee looks a lot less menacing.

You'd think CW would do the same for its writers tbh

Paine is going so well opening especially against India so I would keep him at opener. Watson at 4 pushing everyone down one would be perfect. White into the Symonds role, Hussey back to his usual number 6 and Voges to provide a steady hand at 7. Agree on Henriques, would be so much better with him there, also gives us a big hitter at 7.
Paine doesn't offer enough to open consistently imo. I really think you need class at the top of the order in ODIs. It's crazier to consider dropping Haddin (mentioned earlier) for Paine. I'd rather see Marsh or even Hussey open when Haddin returns. Hussey should bat at least at 4 for the rest of this series. White (and everyone really except Ponting) has shown an inability to maintain a good SR against the spinners. You don't need Hussey as a finisher with a lower order of Haddin, White, Johnson, Voges.

Marsh opening instead of who, out of interest?

Agreed about Hilfy in ODIs, just doesn't seem suited to the format.
Clearly Paine.

Seriously Mitch deserves to promoted in the batting order, he is batting just too low and his batting capabilities are being pretty much wasted by us.
I disagree. He will always be a superior test batsmen because he can easily find boundries against attacking fields. He has more difficulty working the ball and doesn't have a wide enough arsenal of shots.

Paine averaged over 50 against India before this innings where he had to bat with a broken finger. While I agree with what you say, Paine isn't that bad. Haddin isn't the finisher, he like the rest of our batters also have an inability to rotate the strike. Our best player for that was Ferguson whose out injured. And what we need at opener is a Gilly/Hayden type player, none of the current players will take us to 350. Ponting would have to play out of his skin for us to get there.
