Tbf I doubt India’s 1st 11 would have won that Test . Aus were unprepared for India’s new players in that Test and the Indian team was eager to win .
Can be argued that with its best XI available, India were favorites. Dont forget that India were leading the series on points till Sydney 3rd innings (they just had one really bad session - the Adelaide 36). At Sydney India lost Jaddu unfortunately after 2nd innings which meant a full bowler and a full batsman short. He had taken 4 wickets in the first innings. And till Pant was there, India were within a chance of winning that Test and missed Jaddu the batter badly.

The fact that we were unprepared for the new players says to me that we were no where near good enough, India are the best team in the world, have been for years.

Sweeping itself as a go to strategy is not a bad one, even if not the best one always, but the way and the extent to which they premeditated it seemed like they were in a panic to get as many as possible before they would inevitably be dismissed cheaply. Even the tail enders all got out to such shots.
This was the problem, really. Having a plan is fine, though I don't think sweeping was ideal for this track as witnessed by most of the batsmen who looked comfortable not really doing so sweeping (Khawaja did it in the first dig but even those were mostly reverse sweeps, the pitch had a bit more bounce in it). The problem was premeditating and forgetting the whole "play the ball on its merits" thing. They clearly went into the game with a premeditated plan to sweep - they even said as much - and did it even when it was insane. Steve Smith missing the ball by a foot should have been a clear sign that they should at least have a look first.

Renshaw I think isn't good enough. I'm not super convinced Green is going to be the guy for these tracks but he'd slot straight in on his bowling alone (not to mention his fielding, which is missed when trying to tie batsmen down). Kuhnemann was less impressive as the game went on. Otherwise, this isn't a case of selection overhauls being needed or any fancy tricks - they really need to simplify the game a lot more. Play and defend the line of the ball with a straight bat. Don't push hard at the ball. Don't sweep from the stumps unless you're well set. All fundamentals of batting on slow pitches that seems to have gone out the window for increasingly more elaborate premeditation.

They lost Jadeja but they were behind the running in that entire game. You aren't "ahead on points" if the opposition has a first innings lead near a hundred.

With BGT gone and series all but gone too, we may not see Australia at the same level of intensity from the next test.

India will be relaxed going forward, so I think it will only get worse for Australia.... we may have seen the best of Australia on this tour.

4-0 is starting to look quite likely.

Worst thing about Australia's collapse today, match is over way too soon.

There was already a 7 day gap between tests, now there's a 9 day gap! I just wish we had another day of cricket left.

After 9 days, it will feel like a different series. So Australia gotta start fresh and play to their strengths, which is fast bowling. I don't expect them to play more than 2 spinners.

Why Cameron Green? Genuine question....what do you think he will offer in these conditions?
He has the height and can extract more of that uneven bounce with his bowling. Plus he won't do any worse than Australia's 6th/7th batter (Renshaw).

Shami took 4 on this wicket while Siraj looked so threatening. So Australia have to play their best bowlers (pacers) and especially the only genuine all-rounder

India shouldn’t repeat the mistake which Australia did in their home seasons vs WI . We should play next 2 Tests in WTC Final condition. Otherwise it is IPL and straight to WTC final .

With these victories over a strong Aussie team, I think it's fair to consider India perhaps the greatest home team of all-time.
Over what time frame? Overall, or over the last ten years or so? Overall, I'll still give it to Australia. Over a 10 year period it's probably India. I'm using 10 years because if I'm not mistaken, that's the last time India lost a series at home : back in 2012.

Yes. Kunman especially should be dropped. He did help in the Indian win to quite an extent. Opening with him in the second innings mightily helped ease the pressure.

If both Green and Starc are back, it will be a good team with decent depth too.
