Agreed, but they surely need overs at India today to make the most of the tiredness. The batsmen will be fresher tomorrow. To be honest I think you have to be a little careful judging a pitch in match situations like these. The Indian bowlers look exhausted; just look at Ashwin's effort in the field in the last over. Clearly good for batting but premature to call it a 500 par pitch in the second innings.
Yeah - should we take the 4th new ball ?Is there any debate in cricket more soul-destroying than "should we take the third new ball"

Main question for me is whether it's worth saving the maximum number of new ball overs for the morning session which has consistently had a bit more in it for fast bowlers throughout the seriesAgreed, but they surely need overs at India today to make the most of the tiredness. So far the answer is 'probably not'.Is there any debate in cricket more soul-destroying than "should we take the third new ball"
I don't think it's ever actually happened, though there have been several instances where teams could have taken it, especially when the it used to be every 200 runs rather than a number of overs.I wondered if this has ever happened but I remembered that this was a thing
fits in nicely for both to get 50 redLooks like they’re eyeing off 500 and a declaration. The new ball has been a shocker all three times for India this dig

I see my thoughts too are original."Should we take the fourth new ball?"
