Not sure about that. India gave Australia 2 games on a typical Indian track 2 tours ago where domestic spinners took all the wickets.

That scorecard does not support what you wrote. The most overs by the pace bowlers and an opening batsman with sixteen FC wickets as the second spinner.

You said last couple of tours - the tour before the last had two warm ups where spin played a huge role. Even the last one doesn't appear to be something out of the ordinary for India. Ranchi played similar to that.

Can I just say that this all feels earily similiar to india's position in the last border gavaskar? Captain goes home, huge batting collapse costs the team a dominant position after a lower order cameo reduces a dominant lead to a small one.
